Chapter 23: Chapter 22.5: For Him, She Was
After the sparring match with Bokkon, I opened my space inventory, placed my katana inside, and closed it.
Bokkon walked toward his katana, slowly picked it up, and slid it back into its holder. He turned around and saw me surrounded by many Beastmen and humans, all praising me.
He smiled softly, but his mind drifted into memories.

In his memory, he was sitting on a wooden bridge. Beside him sat..... Shein.
"Hey, Bokkon, can I ask you something?" Shein asked, her voice light and curious.
"Huh? What is it?" he replied.
"What do you want to do when you grow older?" she asked, her eyes fixed on the flowing river below.
Bokkon looked at her for a moment before answering, "I... want to be with you forever..." His face turned red with embarrassment.
"Huh? Be with me forever?" Shein asked, confused, as she met his gaze.
Bokkon quickly looked away. "Y-yeah... you know... make a family and stuff," he stammered, his tail swinging uncontrollably.
Shein noticed and burst into laughter. "Haha! Your tail looks so funny and cute when it swings like that!"
Bokkon blushed even more. "S-shut up!"
Shein placed her hand gently over his. "Hey... do you mean it when you say you want to be with me forever?"
Bokkon slowly turned his head and locked eyes with her. "Yes. I mean it," he said softly.
Shein smiled, a warm, genuine smile. "Then please... be with me until I die..."
Bokkon's eyes widened in confusion. "What do you mean—"
Before he could finish, Shein stood up suddenly. "Come on! Don't you want to meet The Great Heaven God? I heard there are lots of tasty fruits on TEOD Island!" she said and dashed off.
Bokkon stood up and chased after her. "H-hey! Wait for me!"
Shein laughed as she ran ahead. "Catch me if you can!"
Bokkon's eyes were fixed on her as she ran, her laughter echoing through the air. In his mind, he made a promise:
(I promise... I'll protect you forever because... I love you.)

The memory faded. Bokkon stood there, watching me from a distance. His eyes glimmered with unshed tears.
"I'll still keep my promise..." he whispered.
