Worriesgone blushed and dipped her head.
"It’s just for convenience. There are god-tales that we tell humans about and god-creatures that you tell us about. The god-tales are just lies for humans, but the god-creatures are real, dangerous and untrustworthy!"
"Oh, yeah. I should’ve realized. Alright, since this is resolved... Girls, we got another limit break point! And with all the extra gene points we got, we might use them on... soooo many amazing things, let’s check them out!"
This suggestion was met with great enthusiasm.
Nothing could distract from the danger and untrustworthiness of the gods better than the gifts they sometimes brought. Although this sounded like the start of a cautionary tale...
I looked at my morphotypes panel.
The gene picks gave me 6 new gene points to distribute. I also now had an opportunity to look at the limit break genes that I hadn’t examined the last time I had a limit break point.
I was too excited back then, yeah? It was only natural.
As I looked over the list of my Personal Morphotype’s genes, I saw that there was a "LIMIT BREAK +" button next to the ’Telepathy X+I’!
Although there was "(MAX)" written next to it, it looked like I could still upgrade these broken abilities even more?!
Now I was getting excited again!
Sadly, I couldn’t actually preview the genes I will get from this. I let out a breath.
"This council has to be put on a break for a week... Or however long it takes for Oracles to catch up with the timeline and be able to predict what genes I will get by using a limit break."
The week went uneventfully. I told Malevolence what I learned from Dalmanrach, but of course, she didn’t relax even a little bit. She and her army were still dutifully conquering the former Hatha territories, which I could only applaud her for.
I visited Oracles several times to make sure they were alright. Undecided chose to tell them what happened, and they spent a lot of time untangling the past events to find out the full extent of what happened and what could’ve happened.
I didn’t feel was useful, but this was their method of coping with their feelings of guilt, so I let them. Several days later, Oracles told me something that didn’t calm me down whatsoever.
They have found the threads of possibilities in which I was attacked by the Goddess of Hornets. This was not very likely—I really got "lucky" this time—but in the case this happened, there was a very large chance that I would’ve actually died.
Other gods would’ve brought me back to life, though.
I didn’t know if, in those realities, Goddess of Bees told me that the resurrected me was just a perfect copy. The bees were unaware, at least.
That I could’ve died so easily put me in a bad mood for a day, anyway.
But on the next day, the Oracles reported they were ready to help me pick my genes, and a week after it went on a break, the Empire Council gathered again.
We were going to resume just where we stopped the last time.
Today, Oracle Undecided was somber, but calm and collected. She gave me a list of all possible gene picks already, and watched from the side as the Advisers examined it.
The options under-explored the last time were:
〔Shootable Stinger X+I (MAX): allows shooting the stinger to a distance of 50000 meters. The stingeralready gains its own nervous, sensory and motion systems and will seek targets by itself.〕
〔Electrical Charge X+I (MAX): increases the charge power by 1000% compared to the previous tier. Allows controlling electricity at the range of up to 30 meters.〕
〔Increased Fertility X+I (MAX): +5000% to fertility. Allows asexual reproduction with half the effectiveness.〕
〔Increased Venom Potency XXX+I (MAX): increases damage and potency of venoms by 100000%. Your venom ignores target’s venom resistance.〕
〔Olfactory Perception X+I (MAX): improves the sense of smell by 1000%. Allows deciphering emotions of other species through scent.〕
’Quiet Flight II (MAX)’ couldn’t be put through a limit break despite being a tiered and a maxed out gene.
As for the genes that I could limit break AGAIN...
〔Thick Skin V+II (MAX): reduces all physical damage taken by 100%, including indirect damage. Reduces damage from fire and acid by 40%.〕
〔Heat Resistance V+II (MAX): allows gathering energy and life force from heat and electricity. 20% of all heat and electrical damage that could’ve been inflicted on you will be turned into stamina. 20% of all fire damage will be turned into health points.〕
〔Telepathy X+II (MAX): allows sending telepathic messages for up to 200 thousand kilometers, reading surface thoughts at a range of 20 kilometers, and reading deeper thoughts at a range of 20 kilometers. Also allows sending an astral projection within the range of 200 thousand kilometers.〕
They were honestly disappointing.
The first limit break was a qualitative change, but then it went back to quantity again.
The sheer amount of this quality I had access to was still enough to make me salivate!
Guns? Forget guns. Why not instead have natural heat-seeking missiles? I wondered if bees would be able to give their own stinger orders since they will have a separate nervous system (which meant their own tiny brains).
Even without the extra upgrades to the venom power and the stinger’s sharpness, the possibilities for synergies were seemingly boundless!
Or what about the power to become a lightning mage? Pointing people with a conductive spear was one thing, but zapping them from a safer distance...
Especially since electricity was something our enemies weren’t immune to , unlike venom or sometimes fire...
"Father, what does ’asexual reproduction’ mean?" Tabletina asked after also reading Undecided’s list.
Other girls were also curious.
It was a wonder that even after so much time, sometimes I still had to explain to them some common terms...
