Some might call Xu Feng shameless for giving in to the subtle threat, but only he knew that this Mirage Pendant was far more worth it than the rewards from Mayor Adam.
The capability to alter one's identity was something that only someone with his poor background required when treading on the muddy water of the Divine World.
However, his satisfaction was quickly quenched when Sandy clasped her hands and explained more thoroughly.
"By the way, even if you unsealed it, the pendant has been in the dust for a while. Hence the mana contained within it is quite low and somewhat contaminated. You'll need to use 1 silver coin for every use."
It was as if someone was enjoying their greatest moment in life, only to be informed of terrible news, instantly causing them to go from joyous to gloomy.
Nevertheless, Xu Feng readily composed himself and accepted the fact.
Such items capable of altering a player's identity were not really that rare, but for an item that was capable of avoiding detection— that was what made the Mirage Pendant awesome.
With the Mirage Pendant, even if he truly went on to disguise as another person, a player would be dreaming if they thought they could identify his disguise.
Hence, for a mere 1 silver coin in exchange for absolute security, Xu Feng felt he made a bargain.
Wearing the Mirage Pendant for now, Xu Feng was about to thank her but was halted.
"No need to thank me," Sandy smiled and continued, "To get the unseal done, I technically am forcing you to head to Star Falls City since only there can you get the full moon."
Sandy didn't want to deceive Xu Feng so she revealed her true motive in granting such a reward.
Meanwhile, Xu Feng was somewhat speechless by her confession. Although he somewhat guessed her agenda for gifting him an item that required unsealing specifically at Star Falls City, he didn't mind it.
The current state of Star Falls City was less than ideal, but that didn't mean it wasn't filled with potential.
Nevertheless, since she went ahead to confess, it would be rude of Xu Feng to not gain any extra benefit.
"Ahh, Star Falls City?" Xu Feng feigned surprise, putting up a frown expression. His acting was truly amazing, enough to fool Sandy.
"I know the city isn't that good with the constant monster wave being a problem, but I can alleviate your problem a little bit."
"Those Ragged Scrolls. I've noticed you took an interest in them back then. To save you some hassle, I can allow you to choose two Tier 2 Scrolls or five Tier 1 Scrolls."
"Is that for real?" Astonished, Xu Feng was seriously starting to suspect Sandy to have another identity. "Or is this Mayor Adam's arrangement?"
"No, this is my arrangement," Sandy responded coolly, almost as if she was displeased he was trying to give credit to the mayor and not her.
Xu Feng swallowed a mouthful of saliva, clearly unable to fathom the authority that Sandy held. At the same time, he was inwardly glad that he established a good relationship with her.
"I will take the Tier 1 Scroll of Healing Remedies, Scroll of Earthquake, Scroll of Poison Cloud, Scroll of Meteor Shower, and Scroll of Arcane Explosion." Xu Feng quickly responded.
Apart from the Healing Remedies which could increase his familiarity with herbology, the other four scrolls were offensive scrolls.
The Cleric path, in the beginning, was arduous and tedious to advance, having legitimately next to zero offensive power. Thus, to save himself from the trouble and the incident of having to fake death again, he decided it was best to keep some offensive scrolls.
Meanwhile, Sandy was slightly alarmed that Xu Feng was able to make a quick decision, unlike the previous time. However, this just meant that he was indeed taking his sweet time to choose what was best for him. Otherwise, there was no way he could possibly memorize the scrolls available here.
"Very well, those scrolls are yours now." Sandy swiftly retrieved the respective scrolls without any trouble, handing them over to him.
After receiving the scrolls, a satisfied smile appeared on his face. 'I thought I had to give up these scrolls, but it seems like they finally found their way home.'
Without hesitation, Xu Feng learned the materials in the Scroll of Healing Remedies, storing the remaining four scrolls in his inventory. The other scrolls were used for battle, and not like the Healing Remedies and the previous scrolls he had used to learn a new skill.
Different categories of scrolls had their own type of usage.
The previous scrolls he used gave him new skills such as the Dark Pact and Heaven's Grace, whereas the Healing Remedies simply increased his knowledge, having gained a wave of new information.
There was a slight headache he felt when gaining this new information, which was the common norm.
His mental concentration needed to increase higher if he wanted to learn higher Tier information scrolls. Otherwise, he might cause some damage to his brain from the abundant knowledge injected into him.
Shortly after the duo exited the vault, Sandy gave him a city token.
"This token is the one that allows you to enter a city of your choice. The fee has been waived already." She explained.
"I'll gladly accept it." Instead of saying thanks, Xu Feng merely gave his gratitude at a bare minimum.
Sometime later, Xu Feng bid his farewell to Sandy, who promptly returned to her receptionist desk.
As he exited the Town Hall, he began messaging Zhao Kai, wanting to know about his progress with the mission. At the same time, he wanted to inquire about Fiona's forging.
A few seconds later, Zhao Kai video called, which he accepted.
"Fiona's father Thorin has returned, but after handing the letter, I received a subsequent quest. So now I'm kinda swamped with the workload." Zhao Kai hurriedly said.
"I see…" Xu Feng nodded his head, not a bit surprised by the development. "Just try to finish the quest soon and reach level 15. I'll be heading toward Star Falls City now."
"Huh? You can enter the city already?" Astonished, Zhao Kai stared at Xu Feng as if he was a monster in disguise.
