Shortly after Xu Feng guided the monster to the area where the carnivorous plant was camping, the monster's eyes lit up.
Without a doubt, it could sniff the plants that had been hiding underground.
It turned to Xu Feng, letting out a soft shout, almost as if it was giving thanks to him.
"It's nothing. I can find more for you as long as you can give me a few samples." Xu Feng smiled and took out a few small test tubes from his inventory.
Although not completely understood, the monster still nodded its head and proceeded to rush ahead. Clearly, it couldn't wait any longer to fill its starving stomach.
As the monster charged ahead and stomped the ground heavily, causing a few of the carnivorous plant's leaves to be exposed, the monster roared joyously.
Without hesitation, the monster began feasting itself on the leaves, prompting the carnivorous plant to react intensely. It squirmed around before popping out of the underground, its vines quickly trying to hinder the monster's movement.
Simultaneously, spores that were concealed in all of the area, appeared in an attempt to infect the monster's mind.
Unfortunately for the carnivorous plant, the monster remained unaffected. Its mind wasn't filled with some random thoughts that could cloud its mindset.
Instead, it only exhilarated them more as they started to swallow a mouthful of spores, feeling gleeful.
While this one-sided battle was occurring, Xu Feng had distanced himself in a safe spot.
He was using the Spectral Binoculars to inspect the fight from afar. "The monster isn't affected by the spores' psychic attack."
Xu Feng realized the monster was indeed one part of the key to the solution.
For research purposes and the so-called symptoms, he decided to call whatever the spores' effect or action was a form of psychic attack.
After all, it was capable of confusing one's personal mind into questioning their identity, as well as influencing their actions.
However, that was only for the mild symptoms. For those who had been exposed for a prolonged time, the effect would result in parasitic species within the person's body. These parasitic species could be considered the offspring of the carnivorous plant.
'No wonder Cole's appearance was completely drained. His life essence had been sucked dry and most likely, the parasite species evolved, resulting in Cole's life being cut short.' Xu Feng sighed inwardly.
No one had gone ahead to execute Cole, but rather the things that managed to be concealed within his body had evolved. Despite this, the main cause was still the main host that was currently residing in the Battleship Lux Commander.
The main host should be capable of communicating with parasitic species from other infected people, rendering them into nothing more than puppets.
And what better way to accomplish its task of turning the entire battleship into its fertilizer than destroying the main threat to its existence: the Medical Division.
'When monsters are that intelligent, it really makes one feel a deep chill.' Xu Feng thought to himself, having witnessed the monster had finished killing the carnivorous plant.
Since this particular carnivorous plant wasn't that high-level or proficient in its ability, it easily fell when fighting against the monster which was superior in every way.
With the danger now resolved, Xu Feng got down from the ground and slowly approached the monster.
"Hello, Buffalion…" Xu Feng called out, having decided to address the monster as such. It was a combination of buffalo and lion, hence, Buffalion.
The Buffalion made a glance at Xu Feng, its hoof pointing at more of the now unresponsive vines and leaves.
"Yes, I can find more, but I'll need to collect some of them." As if understanding its intention, Xu Feng responded and retrieved a few test tubes.
He then shook the test tubes a few times and pointed at some of the vines and leaves.
A few seconds later, Buffalion snorted and swung a few of the vines and leaves toward Xu Feng's side with its hoof.
Afterward, it returned to munching the remaining ones. Without a doubt, the Buffalion gave silent approval for Xu Feng to take those few as samples for research.
Xu Feng also wouldn't be greedy and accepted them. It may have been a small portion, but it was still better than nothing.
Not to mention, based on Buffalion's size, it wouldn't be pleased with just one carnivorous plant. It would definitely need a few more to fill that massive belly.
Sure enough, once Xu Feng finished collecting the necessary samples, the Buffalion already began snorting at him.
"I got it." Xu Feng lightly said and used the Holo-Mapper.
"There's another few plants over there." He then pointed, having detected more carnivorous plants around the perimeter. Once data was discovered and made, Xu Feng only needed to input a few more things for the Holo-Mapper to detect the monsters.
It was such a godly item that Xu Feng wished he could keep it, but he knew it was just a pipe dream.
Once the Origin Trial was over, these godly items would also disappear. After all, they were exclusive items for this particular trial.
As for trying to find a method to get his hands on it, Xu Feng knew better than to waste his time. He had never heard of the item, Holo-Mapper, which meant players were never supposed to have them.
"Okay, follow me." Xu Feng shook his head and proceeded to grapple away.
The Buffalion followed closely behind by running. Its speed was truly something that did not resemble its size. One might think that with its sheer size, it would be difficult to maneuver, but that was an extremely terrible thought.
Although Xu Feng was moving pretty fast with the assistance of the Phantom Grappling Hook, the Buffalion was able to catch up and even surpassed him.
It was just that it didn't know where the other carnivorous plants were, so it had no choice but to slow down and follow Xu Feng's direction.
'As expected of a Buffalion. The strength of a buffalo and the speed of a lion. What a dangerous combination species.' Xu Feng smiled bitterly, feeling thankful that the Buffalion wasn't fond of meat.
