Shortly after the fiasco display of Zhao Kai touching on wood. He quickly accepted the trade window and received the mask that Xu Feng had designed for him.
However, upon receiving the mask, Zhao Kai became confused.
"Huh, why is this mask all colored in black with no design?" He pouted.
"Cause I don't want to get copyright infringement." Shouted Xu Feng, who had enough of Zhao Kai's antics.
Sure enough, Zhao Kai quickly lowered his head in response.
Clearly, he knew not to press any more buttons to rile up Xu Feng. Thus, he simply put on the mask without delay.
As soon as the mask was placed on, Zhao Kai's aura underwent some change, and he felt somewhat light.
"What's going on?" Startled, Zhao Kai took a look at his arms and body but found nothing changed. Yet he got a feeling that his body had changed.
"Check your status screen and stop acting like some protagonist who got a power-up!" Xu Feng quickly said.
'Tsk, isn't that what they all do though? Why can't I do the same?' Zhao Kai clicked his tongue and checked his status screen. Sure enough, there was a buff in his speed upon equipping the mask, which made sense since his body felt extremely light.
"Oh my, where did you obtain these masks from?" He asked in disbelief.
Even if the mask was not to conceal one's identity, he would still be willing to wear it for the extra buff. After all, the buff wasn't just about speed, but many more which he didn't find the need to read them through.
Why should he need to read when there was someone willing to provide him with information on the spot if he ever raised a question?
This wasn't called lazy, but being efficient in using the resources available to him.
Xu Feng in his eyes was the encyclopedia and the know-it-all person. Sometimes, his knowledge far surpassed the System description itself, and Zhao Kai placed his trust in Xu Feng more than the system.
Of course, that was excluding the fact that he had been twice betrayed by him.
That was the only negative part about this encyclopedia buddy of his.
'If only he's willing to change.' Zhao Kai thought to himself, hoping that one day, he wouldn't have to suffer so miserably.
"Not to interrupt your thought process, but your facial expression shows that you are dissatisfied with my arrangement."
As soon as Xu Feng's voice echoed through the video call, Zhao Kai's body shuddered.
"Dissatisfied?" Zhao Kai raised an eyebrow before chuckling. "Impossible."
"Good, then activate your ultimate skill and dive straight to the nearest Colossus."
"Yes, your Ecliptic Overdrive. It temporarily enhances all your stats and grants you an aura that deals continuous damage. The continuous damage is stackable and the output is exponential as well."
An exponential output meant the damage would continue to increase higher the longer the time went as opposed to linear output.
Naturally, Zhao Kai understood what his ultimate skill was from a while ago when he had to prepare. However, that wasn't his concern. It was the aspect where he was told to confront the nearest Colossus amidst the swarming of the many monsters.
Not to mention, he couldn't possibly solo an Elite Type Colossus.
Despite the fear, Zhao Kai knew complaining any further would only backfire.
Thus, he gritted his teeth and silently prayed. 'To hell with it. It's just one death anyway. This isn't even a death game.'
Right after he shouted those in his mind, Zhao Kai cleared his throat, extended his palm, and touched the tree wood again.
"Stop stalling!" Annoyed, Xu Feng finally shouted in fury when he saw Zhao Kai touching wood again.
"The Colossus has already fallen for my trap. The plants were never meant to deal with the monster wave but for the Colossus. Within a few minutes, the plants' residues would affect the Colossus and that's your time to go all ham!" He added, spelling out everything for him.
"Even so, I don't have much combat power that could be combo." Zhao Kai pursed his lips, but still proceeded to rush toward the monster wave.
As he dashed straight ahead, Zhao Kai rushed past the group of players that he had eavesdropped earlier. His movement and sudden appearance instantly disrupted their fight.
"Hey, what the hell man?"
"Fuck, he's ruining our coordination!"
The two tanks on the front were instantly furious and were about to catch the bastard for sabotaging.
However, they were quickly dumbfounded when they heard their companion's next words.
"Huh, that person is running straight into the center of the monster wave?" The Arcane Mage in their group exclaimed in disbelief.
"Holy crap, it's another one of those lunatics who think solo leveling is OP!"
"Ignore him and resume position. We can't let them breach the line!"
Almost immediately, the group of players realized it was just another suicidal freak player, so they no longer cared about getting revenge. There was no point in doing so when they were bound to die anyway.
While they resumed their slow but steady fight, Zhao Kai had long dashed further ahead, his shield constantly bashing through the monster to open a small path.
"Feng, it's getting harder to advance." Zhao Kai felt the strain in his left arm from swinging his shield. The monsters were more sturdy and tough the deeper he dived in.
With Zhao Kai all alone amidst the wave of the monsters, he was naturally being targeted. By now, he had been attacked on the side multiple times. Had it not been for his advancement to Eclipser Knight, then he would have fallen in battle already.
And overseeing the action from a far distance, Xu Feng calculated the distance between Zhao Kai's position and the Colossus.
"The distance should be enough here." He murmured.
He spotted the Colossus had uprooted the last plant that he summoned in the vicinity. With that being said, this particular Colossus had uprooted a total of 15 plants.
"Kai, start the activation of your EX Skill, Gluttony." Xu Feng commanded.
