The nanny was so frightened that she couldn’t finish her sentence.
The child was missing, and as the nanny, she couldn’t escape responsibility.
Elly Campbell closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and forced herself to stay calm, over and over again.
"Did you call the police?"
"Yes, we’ve already reported it. The police are checking the surveillance footage along the route."
Elly nodded. The house she was living in was a property of her cousin, Arthur Clark, located in the busiest and most densely populated area of the city center.
She chose to stay here because it was convenient for her commute to work and not far from William’s kindergarten.
But now it was not advantageous. The more populous the area, the harder it was to find William.
Before long, several police officers arrived at her doorstep, updating her on the latest development, "Miss Campbell, according to the residential complex’s surveillance, the child left on his own and headed west all the way, but there is a broken camera nearby, and we’ve lost track of him. Elly forced herself to stay calm and nodded, "Thank you."
After the police left, Elly called Master Clark, a retired professor with many connections in the city. She couldn’t rely solely on the police now; she had to organize a search party herself.

"How is the investigation into Elly’s child going?"
"We’re still looking; it should be soon."
Robert Green glanced at Adam Jones cautiously before answering.
Adam’s brows furrowed in displeasure, "Why is it taking so long?"
Robert nervously touched his nose, saying, "President, you know how capable the lady is; it’s not so easy to investigate her child."
He excused his lack of effort in the task, thinking, jokingly, that if the lady knew the president was investigating her, the president might as well say goodbye to his wife.
However, Adam believed Robert’s words.
He knew well how difficult that woman was after he spent so much time and resources and still couldn’t find Elly after four years.
