"Was it all for money?" The words felt like lead in the cold of the night. Despite being fallen on ground in the pool of her own blood, Nora held a kind of power that could not match her uncle and his family who stood in front of her high and mighty dressed in proper suit.
But it was stained with her blood. The feeling of being inferior never left him. Even when he had slit her stomach and she was bleeding to death, she was looking at him with the same disgusting look as if he was a pest who was not worth her attention.
If only she had understood.
"It is to teach you a lesson! That a married woman must stay at home and not poke her nose in the matters of others." She raised a brow and laughed.
"So much drama and blood just to tell me that I am married when I did not want to marry him in the first place?" she mocked as she looked at Benard, her husband, another devil in her hell. Her eyes were cold and full of hatred but the impact lessened as she coughed a mouth full of blood.
Her eyes red and green, she looked in pain. Her face was ashen and she was coughing more blood.
The excruciating pain had bound her in its arms and swayed her with the lullaby of darkness. The scene in front of him gave him some relief.
"Blabber all you want, but in the end, you are going to die and we will survive. Not only that, the inheritance of your mother will belong to us. I will be the single owner of all the properties she had left for you." he announced as he took a step forward and kneeled in front of her to match her eyes.
Her blood splashed on his clothes. The torch in the sconces flickering, announcing their death with the death of the lady.
The monsters that hide in the darkness growing on the walls. But it did not scare the woman anymore. For she had seen the biggest monster in front of her.
"It was all because of money. When you could have asked for it and I would have given it to you as a child?" she nodded slowly, her lips twisting into a smirk that looked evil. He gritted his teeth and one hand moved to her hair. He yanked them hard and despite the pain she felt, she did not allow herself to wince or flinch.
She straight hard into his uncle's eyes which he narrowed at her.
"I will sell the daughter you were protecting. The world would only know that you run away when you come to know that you were selling fake goods in the market. You were nothing but a fake heiress. People will loath you even in your death. Your own daughter will curse you for abandoning her when you faced hardships." Nora covered her wound with her hands. Her eyes filling with the desire to kill when Penny, her cousin came forward and laughed.
"Not only that when she would cry in my arms telling how she missed you dearly. I will tell her that you never loved her. And then I would use her like I have used you. Your husband would care a damn and oh! Did I tell you... he already has married so she would have a stepmother who would make sure she spread her leg well before she could have her first period. And oh, did Father tell you.. " Spoke Penny, cutting her father but he did not seem to mind. his lips only twisted and her stomach churned. She had a foreboding about what she was going to tell her when she looked at her uncle.
He noticed the fear in her eyes. For the first time, she was affected by their words and it gave them all a strange perverse pleasure, how he wanted to hurt her again and again until she broke apart and he could enjoy ruining her. But that woman was cold from the start.
Even when they married her to a monster, she never showed her vulnerable side.
"Your father had not died in an accident. I have pushed him from the cliff." he spat with rage. "Because like you, he had the habit of stumbling into my room without knocking. His ears were too big and he did not know how to control his mouth and now you followed the same course. Can you blame me for it?" her eyes widened and flickered with a new rage.
How she raised her hands to slap her uncle but he held her and pushed her away. Nora fell on the ground and Benard came forward and pressed her head deeper on the floor using his shoes to add pressure.
"You think I will let you slap me. Ha! You fool! You bitch." he could feel her struggle and all at the same time he felt a strange thrill in killing her.
Nora closed her eyes. The desire to take revenge burnt her chest but the effect of the poison and the cut on her stomach had left no strength to fulfill that will. Darkness started to surround her altogether and slowly her body felt numb to the pain.
"One day... I will find a way to take my revenge from all of you. Even if I have to return as a ghost and haunt you in the darkness." she whispered only to hear his viscous laughter.
"Hah!" a woman shouted hard in the darkness of her room. The sound was enough for a maid to open the door at once and enter her room. "why are you already shouting? wake up and help us in cleaning the house."
