Nora’s eyes sparkled at once. She stood up at once and held his hand.
"Of course, I would love to." She had expected that it would take a week to get a reply from him.
A few looked dumbfounded at their conversation. Alex was one of them, his eyes widened and then narrowed at Victor.
"Great! Then I will apply for leave for this weekend. You can spend the weekend at our house. I have invited a few other friends too so you would not feel bored." his eyes flickered when he noticed their clasped hands.
"... alright!" Nora did not understand why he would invite her but she believed it was related to work. Perhaps, they need some time to question her before signing the deal. It would be better this way. She had a feeling that her uncle would invite her for this weekend. So going with Victor would be better.
"Then I will text you the details later and wait for you at the main street." he left with an excited smile on his face that brightened her mood too. She looked at the piece of paper in her hands with a smile she could not hide. In this life, she would be richer than her uncle. But Benard? Would she let go of him that easily? That man...! Her eyes went cold again as she thought of him.
She picked up her phone and left the class. Only then did Alex stood up and walked to her desk. She had already torn the page she had written on but she had used so much pressure that remnants could be seen on the next page. Alex tore it and walked back to his seat.
He took out the pencil and sketched over it. But he frowned when he noticed the names of companies on the page. His eyes went dark. Many noticed what he had done and exchanged glances. Everyone had already noticed how Victor favored Nora and now Alex was taking care of that girl too. Could it be that there is going to be a love triangle in their class?
That also with Nora? Many girls felt jealous since Nora had nothing. She is only an orphan with no money or status. Yet, she had easily thrown the school’s belle from her position with some vicious accusations and now she was getting attention from both men.
Not everyone believed that Penny had hurt Nora. it must be her way of blackmailing her aunt and uncle for better resources.
"If we do not teach her a lesson now, she would think that the whole class belongs to her." a girl spat through gritted teeth as she tore her test papers with hatred and jealousy in her eyes.
Many girls nodded behind her. They were full of envy.
"How could she go closer to our idol when it is clear that no one will make a move on him." a girl replied with hostility. He would not be with anyone so that he could be everyone’s idol. This nasty girl was ruining his image. "What if everyone stopped liking Victor because of her bad reputation? I could not let this happen." Earlier the girl had strained her ears and heard that Victor had invited her to meet his father.
The words had rung like an alarm bell in the whole class.
"I have a plan then. Come closer." a group of five leaned closer to that girl and they all smiled as she told them about her plan.
They all walked together to the canteen. It did not take them long to find Nora sitting on the seat alone and eating with her one hand. She looked rather pitiful and earned sympathy glances from all around the room. Their eyes went red looking at the scene.
"Tch! Such a drama queen. She should have rested at home if she was in so much pain."
"Ha! Does she even have a home to go to? Orphans like her only have a house where they could rely on. But this time, she was so vicious that she had accused her own sister for her injuries. If i had been her uncle, i would have already thrown her out of the house and stopped supporting her. But I bet, she is shameless enough to still ask them for money." The girl was loud enough to get everyone’s attention in the canteen.
Many had only come to know about Nora from the school forum and had heard a lot of rumors about her already. A few did not know about her at all. They have only felt pity looking at her sorry state. But hearing the gossip about her, their faces changed and they looked at her with disdain and disgust.
"There is someone so shameless between us?" the second girl shook her head looking abhorred. "And here I thought that she was suffering."
"Ha! I know right. I felt pity for her too until I saw her crying in front of Victor and forcing herself on him to get his attention. Who knows how she got those injuries in the first place?" the first girl continued. Only the two of them continued to insult Nora loudly.
They were waiting for Nora to retaliate so that they could create drama further but from the start to end Nora did not look at them. Neither her hands stopped eating. As if she did not hear them at all. Her face was devoid of any emotions and it was so calm that they felt offended.
How they wanted to run to her and hold her hair to get her attention. But the accusations they had prepared were coming to an end yet she looked unperturbed.
"Who knows how many people she fooled like that! I bet she had blackmailed her family to pay for her too. Penny was crying that Nora had accused her mother and complained against her in the police station for beating her too. Such a shameless and vicious woman!." she continued with a red face.
"Hey? Why are you spouting nonsense in a public place when you do not have proof of anything?"
