Everything was passing them by while they used all their time to work hard and become stronger. They had not thought about balancing their training and rest with a dose of leisure.
The only break they took to enjoy each other’s company since they got married was when they were in bed, and in most cases they would either sleep or make love. Making it impossible to even get to know each other better.
The only thing they had been talking about since they got married was the apocalypse, and then there was training and collecting more supplies to survive the apocalypse.
As Leng Pan laid on her husband’s chest, she thought about the reason she had decided to marry Lu Zhen. Although it had been an impulsive decision, it was not based on his ability to protect her in the apocalypse.
She had the ability to do that on her own. She had wanted to marry him because she had already fallen in love with him and wanted him to be protected in their relationship, especially because she knew that he had insecurities about her.
But, it all came down to the fact that she loved him and wanted to be with him for the rest of their lives, living together and growing old together.
Even though surviving the apocalypse together had been one of the motives, it was not the main motivation. However, over the past two weeks, they seem to have forgotten why they got married. They had been focusing solely on the apocalypse and not on their marriage.
Both of them knew that they would never turn their backs on each other and that they would survive the apocalypse together, but they didn’t want their lives to be all about survival and nothing else.
They wanted to be alive, to live and do the things that they would have done if the apocalypse had not started. Even though it may be challenging because of the changes that had happened in the world, they still had the ability to do so.
They could go on dates, and not on what had become their regular outings which included going out to collect supplies or train. They never take time to relax and enjoy each other.
Thinking of all this, Leng Pan felt that she might be the problem. She had been pushing her husband to prepare for the disasters that will come with the apocalypse but had not given him the time to be a husband without any motives attached.
"Hubby." Leng Pan called out to her husband who was lying in bed beside her with his arm around her waist.
"Mmm... what is it, Baby?" Lu Zhen asked with a hoarse, sexy voice.
"Do you think we should slow down a little?" Leng Pan asked a question that took Lu Zhen a minute to figure out what she meant.
When he realized her implied meaning, he was surprised. She was the one who had been pushing to work harder. What had happened to her for her to start thinking like that?
"Why do you ask that?" Lu Zhen asked. He didn’t want to jump into conclusions and answer the wrong question or answer it in the wrong way.
"I feel like we have stopped living and are only focused on surviving. What is life worth if all we do is struggle to survive? Won’t it be better to just die earlier if all we will ever do is survive?" Leng Pan explained her thoughts but Lu Zhen didn’t like what she said.
"Don’t talk about death like that. We can slow down a little. Let’s take a few days every now and then to relax and unwind until we are able to control everything." Lu Zhen also didn’t like how their lives had been like a marathon since they found out about the apocalypse.
First it was buying and stocking up on supplies, then when the apocalypse started, it was daily training and scavenging for more supplies. Now, they even realized that they might have more responsibilities than they anticipated.
If they went on the same way they are doing now, they will never have time to be themselves and enjoy each other’s company. He loved the time they spent on each other, but it was only when they were having sex.
In fact, having time to just relax and talk to each other like they were doing now was rare. Therefore, he also felt that they needed some changes.
"Okay, how about we rest for the next few days until we have to leave for the laboratory. We can find things to do that have nothing to do with the apocalypse. Let’s just enjoy each other’s company." Leng Pan agreed with her husband on this issue.
