Rise Online: Return of the Legendary Player Chapter 766

Bloody Lily looked at the imposing door before her, feeling a mixture of nervousness and determination.

The structure of the door was ornamented with subtle details, appearing to be made of a type of metal she couldn't determine.

The air around it seemed to be charged with a dense energy, and a feeling of great weight hung over the room.

Maelstrom watched her intently, his demonic eyes penetrating the depths of the warrior's soul. "The last challenge is the most complex and dangerous of all. It's called 'The Trial'. Behind this door, you will face a mixture of all the other challenges you have faced so far, so it won't just be your enemies who will be waiting for you on the other side, but also the very demons that reside in your mind. This challenge will not only test your combat skills, but also your morale, your faith and your understanding of your own nature."

The warrior nodded, clenching her fists around the hilt of her sword. "I'll face whatever it takes. There's no turning back."

With a nod, Maelstrom indicated that she could go ahead. The door creaked as it slowly opened automatically, revealing a desolate, apocalyptic landscape on the other side. Bloody Lily stepped through the door, her eyes adjusting to the sudden change of environment.

The sky was tinged with red, dark clouds swirled like storm vortices. The ground was a mixture of ash and rubble, with shadows writhing ominously everywhere. On the horizon, a colossal structure loomed, a twisted castle with a malevolent appearance. She knew exactly where she was, after all, she had observed this very landscape before entering Surtr Castle.

As she took the first step to start walking, she heard a sound and then a crash echoed to her right.

Bloody Lily jumped backwards and spun in the air, landing gracefully a few meters away from where she was about to step. The door had already disappeared and she was alone in her surroundings. Her sharp eyes scanned the uneven ground, and her survival instinct alerted her to the imminent danger. A guttural howl echoed across the desolate landscape, and shadows moved among the rubble. Black Forest Wolves, agile and common creatures that inhabited Midgard, emerged on the ground just above.

"Ah, they're just Black Wolves..." murmured Bloody Lily, flashing a confident smile. She adjusted the scabbard at her waist and raised her sword, ready for the clash.

The Black Wolves, with their piercing yellow eyes, circled her in a strategic half-moon formation. Quickly, the Black Wolves advanced, with three of them attacking in dangerous synchronicity.

Blood Lily dodged easily and struck back with quick thrusts, demonstrating impressive mastery with her sword. Her body was an extension of her will, and her swordplay was perfect.

The warrior knew that facing the Black Wolves would not be the real challenge. These creatures were her daily adversaries at the start of Rise Online, and her training and experience with these things allowed her to deal with them with ease. However, the feeling of confidence began to be replaced by unease as a deeper, more threatening roar joined the chorus of Black Wolves.

Suddenly, a large ogre emerged, its muscular body covered in thick fur and its angry eyes fixed on Bloody Lily.

'One ogre won't be enough to intimidate me,' she thought to herself, but her confidence was once again shaken when a second ogre appeared, a little smaller than the first, but still frightening.

Blood Lily's confident smile gave way to a more serious expression, her eyes analyzing the imminent threat. She was now trapped between the Black Wolves and the ogres, and the true complexity of the 'Trial' was beginning to reveal itself.

The Black Wolves attacked relentlessly, and the ogres also advanced, with their heavy footsteps. Blood Lily had to divide her attention between dodging the agile attacks of the wolves and the brutal blows of the ogres. Every step, every movement, had to be thought out, otherwise she would be hit. Yet, despite being pressed by so many enemies, in less than a minute, they had all turned to black dust in the air.

"I'm not even gaining experience or items by killing these things. It's unfair that they're all just invocations or projections." Bloody Lily thought aloud.

As she watched the Black Wolves and the defeated ogres dissipate. Silence reigned again, but the tense atmosphere persisted.

Suddenly, a black vortex began to form in front of her. She stared into it, and familiar but distorted silhouettes emerged from the center of the vortex. Familiar faces, but now deformed by sinister shadows. Each with empty eyes and deformed expressions, and the silence was broken by the subtle sound of their distorted footsteps on the barren ground.

Blood Lily's eyes widened, but she kept her posture, firm, although discomfort settled in her as she recognized each of those faces.

Dathan, the vice-captain of the Crimson Soldiers Guild, flashed a disdainful smile, leading the entire group of figures.

"Hello, impulsive leader."

Araxie, Tanker of the Bloody Lily guild, raised her empty eyes towards her. "Impulsive? I wish it were just that... Your commands in battle were so confusing that they made me question your intelligence. How dare you call yourself a leader?"

Eraskan raised his left hand and pointed at Bloody Lily. "You think you can lead with a sword? Your lack of understanding of this game even though you've been playing it since the beta test shows the true weakness of your leadership."

Klank snarled: "You never knew how to appreciate my efforts. Your ingratitude will be your downfall."

Dodir, the guild's agile swordsman, sneered: "Lily, you're the most fearful leader I know. How do you intend to lead when you can barely take care of yourself in battle?"

Orkoi raised an accusing finger. "You always relied too much on your strength, thinking you could solve anything you wanted, so you focused more on your personal life than on our guild. Do you think that's fair to someone who has dedicated everything to this guild?"

Korgrak, from the allied Metal Dragons Guild, said:

"You never knew how to coordinate a strategy. I always knew that your leadership was as clumsy as your attempts to control your routine, which is why that hunt for the Centaur Druid failed."

The accusations echoed more than once in Bloody Lily's mind, each word piercing like a sharp dagger. The confidence she had maintained throughout the journey during these challenges was now replaced by a painful self-awareness of her imperfections.
