Ruling as the Next Dragon Sage! Chapter 78

Chapter 78: Echolalia

If I wanted to beat this dungeon boss, I would have to target it’s weakness, [Lightning] magic. But since it’s being using Vaniti as a catalyst for it’s ongoing [Spirit Magic], even if I target it’s weakness it won’t be as effective.

[Spirit Magic] just reduces the effectiveness of other elemental magic, just by a staggering 20%. That 20% was usually treated as a damage reduction, and since to say that Spirit Elves themselves are resonate with [Spirit Magic], they do also get a 20% damage reduction towards any elemental magic targeted at them.

If the Dungeon Boss is as smart as I give it credit for, it would know that my [Lightning] spells won’t be as effective as I need it to be.

But to be fair, why worry about that when I could just ramp up the damage to insane amounts? The only problem with that is that I have to worry about Vaniti getting in the crossfire. As many times as I mention and say that I’m no longer trying to hold back, or my failure to do so, I can feel the slight change.

But even I’m not sure if this Dungeon Boss is enough to ease the edge and power I’ve been trying to contain for so long. It wouldn’t hurt trying, though.

With it’s Spirit Blade infused scimatars, it slashed down at me. With only one one of them, I managed to catchit perfectly within my fingers. A crater forming below me with the sudden pressure and weight, but I did not falter just once.

One slip up, and if I mistimed that horribly, that blade would’ve went through my hand and my arm like a hot knife. I pushed it upward and then drew my hands forward, jogging my brain for any effect [Lightning] spells that would be effective.

"Touch of Lightning!" I hold out my hand for the one spell that I’ve always known that would work. Quickly, thunder cracked and lightning striked repeatedly at the same spot numerous of times.

Then, by the third strike, the Dungeon Boss raised his swords, shielding themselves from it. The lightning strike was parried, and he somehow aimed it for me.

[Dragon’s Authority] proc’d, right in my horns. My eyes widened at the moment, but I need to be fast enough to counter it, very quickly. If Dragon’s Authority is warning me, then even I need to be weary of it.

I breathe in, and close my eyes. Never thought I would need this ability, but here it comes.

Throughout my entire journey so far, that I’ve been restraining and limiting myself, I would have to admit one thing and one thing only.

I’ve only been using one of my [Dragon’s Authrority] abilities. For the longest, I was just under the impression that I would need one of them, but the stakes are becoming higher and higher now.

Things are changing, and I need to change alongside with it.

Within the game of Dragon’s Tale: Ultimate, each dragon had a sub-ability comprised of [Dragon’s Authrority] rare, micelalenous abilities that were tied into how you played the game overall. The list of abilities were damn-near infinite. No two dragons would have the same [Dragon’s Authority] ability, and even if they did, you could tell the difference.

Usually most dragons have 2-3, I was rare, and lucky enough to have four. There may have been a few glitches that went into it for other people to recreate it, but as far as I know, it was all genuine.

And so, for the longest, I’ve only been using one of them. [Dragon’s Authrority: Sovereign Sense], the one that alerts me of danger beforehand. Gives me the best cues when and where to dodge unsuspecting attacks, or moreso lethal attacks that I underestimate.

But now, I’m going to have to use the other.

I slowly open my eyes, and the entire world.

It’s slowed down to oblivion. Everything moves in such little speed. My eyes dart all around the dungeon boss, and the lightning bolt that’s heading for me. The hue of the world becomes a gray, silver almost.

As if we were in a old television.

This is the second one, [Dragon’s Authority: Data Reversal].

The name would of made more sense in the game, but in real life the name is kind of stupid.

With that, I finally stop looking around, the colors of the world start coming back, and I immediately parry the lightning bolt with a swift kick right back towards King Skeleton. It’s staggered, but now I know it’s next moves.

And the move after that one, and after that, and after that.

My brain is flowing with so much information, that it’s even taking into account of all of the mixups it could do. I already knew some prior—perks of remembering the entirety of the game’s code when you are left in the abyss for a painful long time.

But even I was shocked as to what it could do. Because now, this ability acted less of a "I can see the future", and more of a "I just know every move you’ll make for the next few moments".

Funnily enough, I always say playing this game, especially PvP, was just glorified chess. Each move was crucial, and you needed to understand your opponent first before you understood yourself and capability.

As it’s revenge move, it threw two of its Spirit Blades at me. Supposed to be a punish, I think, but it failed anyways. I dodged them with easily, I already knew what was coming. Now it just came down to my instincts and reaction timing.

Because, for the next few moments, I won’t be needed the help of [Dragon’s Authority: Sovereign Sense], it only alerts me during immense danger whether I recognize it or not. I see everything here.

I know every move King Skeleton is going to make.

I won’t be needing it.

Not to mention the reason why I won’t be needing it is because...the two directly cancel each other out anyways. I’m suffering a penalty for the use of [Dragon’s Authority: Data Reversal], could you image if I did have both working actively at the same time? I wouldn’t get hit. Not once.

I waste no time to sneak in another spell as he winds up another one, summoning an all new [Lightning] spell I remembered I had. I leapt right into the air, and he uses the remaining two Spirit Blades to make contact yet again. Blinding speed, but I’ve seen it already. I know exactly when it’s going to hit.

And with that, I mutter two simple words.

"Static Burst."
