Ruling as the Next Dragon Sage! Chapter 82

Chapter 82: Vaniti - The Cruel Saint’s Thesis [1]

She prepared it instantly.

A mortal blow; as abrupt as it was unimaginable. No other expression was shared in her eyes other than the man before her.

"Die, then."

The dagger landed cleanly, and nicely, between a pair of eyes. Inscribed into the flesh of a human as to where blood leaked out profusely, then, with a sudden thud, his body dropped instantly and dramatically.

Before them, a figure stood, a snazzy black suit tight onto her figure. Blood splattered against the pants and black shoes, but it didn’t come across as if she cared, no.

Her short hair barely reached past her shoulders, a messy blend of both blonde and black, neither neat nor kept in order. Chaos, just as she would like it.

She blinked twice, her right Pearl eye blinking before her Emerald. Red blood stains painted her face slightly as she attempted to get it out. She looked before the body, smiled, and then crouched.

Plucked the steel dagger from the head of a Senate, but his eyes had rolled back. He was already far gone. Too far gone one may say. She inspected the body a further time, thinking of something, anything.

To see how a life like that could be taken, especially from a collective group like that. Called themselves...senators...or something, she didn’t know, didn’t bother to care. Jobs like these were easy to do, killing, that is.

Then, her ears twitched, hearing something, in the far off distance. Footsteps—just one set, looks like they came alone. Her head looked around, bodies in suits littered across the floor. Blood disgracing the marble floors.

It wouldn’t be an easy sight, that is. And she was supposed to this steathily, mind you. Quiet. Leave no traces. But she didn’t care, really. In her terms, stealthy usually meant, leave no witnesses

. The same thing, and anybody would be a fool to argue against her otherwise.

The door swung open, and there, a man walked in. He didn’t seem to notice at first, there was slight nervousness plastered on his face, but yet, he tried to keep his composure. Then, with parted lips, he spoke.

"Ch-Chancellor...hah, got to get used to calling you that one," He spoke.

He took a few steps ahead, his eyes closed as if preparing himself for a moment. The women before him tilted her head, confusion. Did he seriously not see all of this? Not even sense her magical presence?

She put a finger to her chin, must be far below average of magical power to notice her. Dare she say he’s never came into contact with magic before. Most people throughout life live like that, weirdly enough.

"Congratulations on the election and everything, but there was something that dawned upon me recently. It’s regarding the–"

And right there, he froze.

His eyes opened, and he hesitated to say another word. He stared at the women, blood smeared across one side of her face just lightly. Pearl and Emerald eyes staring back right at his.

It was a terror. Then he looked around, bodies, more of them, littered. His breath hitched in his throat. He couldn’t speak, so she did for him.

She noticed the faint presence of movement, or the yearning of it, actually. She pointed the steel dagger right at him.

"Make a move, and you’ll die just like the rest." She threatened, and he gulped. The door behind them closed automatically with a soft touch. She stood up from her crouching position, and walked for a bit, right towards him.

She couldn’t believe it. There was one more? How could she let that one slip away? She has been watching them for the past several hours or so, she was sure that was everyone. All of the included senators and the Chancellor.

She looked back, yeah, the one in the fancy robes. Disgusting face as he died...and the only way she could tell it was him was by the robes, not the mauled face, that is. Her attentioned snapped back to the last Senator.

Then, she scoffed, remembering words someone had once told her.

"...must be fate, then."

The remaining senator stood in shock, even as scared as to breath, exhale through his nostrils. Every muscled tensed and locked in place, as if he became a statue the moment he opened his eyes to the carnage here.

A hand rested on her hip, not sure what to do in a event like this, but it was already clear, her mission was done. She tried to group up most of them, but it looks like one little sheep steered too far from the rest.

"I won’t kill you, I’ve changed my mind." She spoke, quite easily.

"But...don’t do anything that will make me want to kill you, see? Otherwise, I’ll blow you halfway to the moon with my Grand Magic."

Such a threat like that wasn’t meant to be crossed. He gulped, nodded instantly. The women before him looked around, before her eyes locked back onto hers. Her hand flowed freely from her hip, pointing at all of the bodies randomly.

"You...you knew these people?" She asked, slight curiosity tinged in her voice. The man wasted not time to nod. She noticed, and couldn’t help but feel a condemning smile plaster across her face.

"Good,"

As if that was the simple notion of making a way for him.

One that he didn’t understand, nor could at any given moment if he wanted to.

She didn’t even try to convince her that these were...bad people, anyways. The man knew they weren’t. People he had spent in the same breathing space, in the same political rooms. Yes, they may have been divided on some certain topics, but when it cames towards the nation, they were unified.

Now they weren’t. Shit, some were even cut into pieces.

And as far as the man knew.

He was the only one left of them.

He was the last senator, and now, with no Chancellor.

The nation...

The nation.

The man looked right back at her for a good moment, his eyes no longer laced with strict fear, but another one.

Rage.
