Wen Qinxi woke up scared out of his mind. The area around them was dark and foggy but because his body could transform into a phoenix, he could see clear enough. He shuffled over to the gigantic dragon sprawled on the ground. Wen Qinxi had transformed back to his human form after he passed out but Qie Ranzhe hadn't transformed back yet.
Anxious, Wen Qinxi came over to check on Qie Ranzhe but he didn't know where to check. He had no idea how a dragon's anatomy worked which made him feel helpless. There was no place to check for a pulse on Qie Ranzhe's black scaly skin making him even more panicked.
He decided to put his hand over the dragon's nose, maybe he did be able to feel Qie Ranzhe's breath. Scared of the unknown, he knelt down beside the general's head and slowly stretched his palm over the fire breathing dragon's nose. Though he seemed calm, Wen Qinxi was a complete mess within. He really didn't want to experience the pain of losing Qie Ranzhe again. A feeling similar to that of your heart being ripped apart was a pain Wen Qinxi could never forget.
His hand hovered over Qie Ranzhe's nose for a while without feeling anything and with each passing second his eyes began to blur with tears obscuring his vision. Just when he was about to give up, he felt a warmth spread across his palm making his body shiver.
"Okay, okay, his alive, his alive.....haha, okay," said a relieved Wen Qinxi chuckling out of pure solace. At least he had resolved one issue, Qie Ranzhe was alive but in came the second issue. How was he going to keep it that way?
In fast steps, he walked over to Qie Ranzhe's injured wing only to have his heart sink. There was a fist size hole on Qie Ranzhe's wing which didn't make sense because he was struck by a bullet not a rocket. The wound looked unsightly with boils too painful to look at. The boils seemed to be spreading and very soon they would spread to the rest of Qie Ranzhe's body. He knew he had to do something but this nerd wasn't a doctor with bare minimum knowledge of first aid.
There was only one thing he could think of and that was the system. "Jolie, I know you are here. You want to come out and say something?" asked Wen Qinxi but as expected the system didn't respond. The sassy system seemed docile all of a sudden which was troublesome. What was it so afraid of?
"Jolie, if you don't come out now you will regret it," said Wen Qinxi resorting to scare tactics. That seemed to work because the system suddenly made its appearance not sure who it was more terrified of, the overbearing CEO or his crazy wife.
"B-boss, uh sorry. I was um, I ah," said the system unable to explain itself. It didn't know the meaning of the word fear till that incident with Qie Ranzhe. Now it was so terrified to come out whenever he was around.
"Oh no need to explain I know you were cowering away. He passed out and whatever this is, it's spreading. What should I do?" said Wen Qinxi rubbing his forehead with trembling hands. He was clearly anxious and didn't have time to squabble with the system.
"I.....um," said the system not sure if it should mention this. There was a special setting on Feng Zi's character that didn't make sense.
"Jolie just say it, please," said Wen Qinxi blinking away a tear. He didn't want to cry but whenever he thought of losing Qie Ranzhe all over again, he couldn't handle it.
The system could obviously read the situation and said, "Use your blood. Just a few drops on his wound and he will be better in no time."
Wen Qinxi was puzzled but didn't have time to think it through looking for something sharp to cut across his palm. For a moment, he almost forgot his fear of pain looking for anything with a sharp edge.
After minutes of frantic searching, he found a rough edged rock. It wasn't sharp enough but it would get the job done. This was an act now ask questions later type of situation.
Just as he placed the rock on his trembling palm it finally dawned on him. "Fuck!" swore Wen Qinxi realising what he was about to do. Beads of cold sweat formed on his forehead his face turning ashen pale. Was he really going to do this? Even the system was looking to see if Wen Qinxi would really do this, it was a pity it didn't have time to rope in the two nerds in the game room into a bet.
While the system was counting its losses, Wen Qinxi was having a hard time questioning his life choices. He decided to bite the bullet. How painful could it be right? He toughened up and pressed the jagged end of the rock on his palm. Soon the desolate peaceful valley echoed blood curdling screams that terrified the vultures out of their nests.
"Boss, did you have to scream like that? The pain index is the same a-," said the system before Wen Qinxi interjected with a pained expression.
"Don't you fuckin say it, this fuckin hurts," his teary eyes stinging due to the excruciating pain. He really had mad respect for women, who dared say they are weak?
Wen Qinxi squeezed his palm his heart beating at an alarming rate that even the boys in the game room noticed. As soon as the crimson drops of blood dropped on Qie Ranzhe's injury it began to heal at a rate visible to the naked eye. Stunned out of his mind, Wen Qinxi was elated thinking he was some kind of human panacea or something.
"How, how is that even possible? What? Is it some kind of super power?" asked Wen Qinxi as he excitedly watch the boils disappear. He really couldn't believe it.
