After the unfortunate embarrassing incident, Wen Qinxi kept his word never sleeping over in Qie Ranzhe's room ever again. The first few days he had awkwardly distanced himself from Qie Ranzhe running off before the man had a chance to even open his mouth. At first, Qie Ranzhe found the bashful Lin Jingxie adorable but the more Lin Jingxie ran the more anxious he became. If this was to become a thing, he didn't know how he was going to solve it.
Wen Qinxi only returned to normal when Jolie pointed out his suspicious behaviour. It didn't know why Wen Qinxi was suddenly acting like a girl who had her feelings rejected by her crush choosing to run off whenever they met. If this carried on Qie Ranzhe will naturally become curious and interrogate Wen Qinxi. An inquisitive Qie Ranzhe was Wen Qinxi's bane, the guy wouldn't stop nagging till he got the truth out of a defenceless Wen Qinxi. The nerd could only be grateful that Qie Ranzhe slept like a dead log otherwise he would have witnessed such shameful event making him lose face.
That statement alone had Wen Qinxi returning to his usual self no longer feeling as humiliated as before, vowing to take that secret to his grave. Seeing Lin Jin finally willing to face him, Qie Ranzhe was relieved though he still felt a sense of loss missing out on such a major event. He swallowed down his disappointment comforting himself that they would plenty of opportunities in the future. He aggressively initiated the very same plan Lin Jingxie gave him going all out without holding back. He basically grew roots in Lin Jingxie's life in such an uncanny way that only Lin Mingxu out of the entire Lin Mansion noticed.
Everyone else in the Lin family just took it as Qie Ran doting on his best friend. This illusion meant they naturally didn't oppose especially Master Lin as he knew Qie Ranzhe's true identity. Lin Mingxu helplessly watched as his older brother was slowly lured into the devil's snare. He had been deterred from exposing the predator Qie Ranzhe who had threatened to air out his dirty laundry for Lin Jingxie to see. This dirty laundry would surely have him disowned by his own brother as he was the one who incited Madam Lin to bring bridal candidates to pressurize Lin Jingxie.
Just like a cornered poodle, he could only watch a rottweiler confiscate his favourite bone. Though trapped in his own man-made pit, he had to applaud Qie Ranzhe's courting skills. If his older brother was a girl, he was fairly certain Lin Jingxie would have fallen head over heels by now.
Qie Ran was like an ideal 'boyfriend' that is in Lin Mingxu eyes but ideal 'friend' in the eyes of the rest of Lin Mansion. He constantly defended Lin Jingxie whenever he got into trouble instantly pacifying Master Lin. Not only that he also shared the burden of whatever punishment designated to Lin Jingxie. He was extremely obedient listening attentively when Lin Jingxie tutored him which was almost every single night.
Sometimes he would go into the forest bringing back Lin Jingxie's favourite fruits, washed them and placed them in his room to surprise him. Whatever Lin Jingxie wanted Qie Ranzhe would make it happen with a heartwarming smile on his face. A spoilt Wen Qinxi didn't think much of it enjoying being doted upon by his boss. The system once walked in only to find Qie Ranzhe hard at work massaging Wen Qinxi's feet. The idiot even went as far as bragging saying, 'Look Jolie I wiggled out a massage from the overbearing CEO. Hahaha, can you imagine that happening in the real world?' with a radiant expression feeling himself.
'Tsk, tsk, tsk you will regret it,' said Jolie silently lighting a candle for its dense creator.
At that time Wen Qinxi's response was, 'Regret it? Ha.....what can he do to me? Fire me? By the time I get out of this game I would be a billionaire, let him fire me if he wants."
The system replied while shaking its invisible head, 'Who said you will lose your job? Let me enjoy watching you willingly put your chryresanthemum at risk,' with the last part said in an inaudible whisper before vanishing from this unappealing scene.
'What asked,' asked Wen Qinxi but the system had already performed a splendid disappearing act like the magician Harry Houdini. He shrugged his shoulders brushing off the jealous system.
These weren't the only benefits Wen Qinxi milked out of Qie Ranzhe. Whenever Qie Ranzhe joined the Lin house for a meal he would always pick Lin Jingxie's favourite dishes placing them in his bowl. This left Master Lin disgruntled because both he and his son loved scallion ginger shrimp and Peking duck which meant each time they had these dishes a huge portion went into Lin Jingxie's mouth. Madam Lin noticed Qie Ranzhe barely ate focusing on fattening up their gluttonous son. She tried to intervene by placing food into his bowl but if it was anything that Lin Jingxie liked it would automatically be transferred into her son's plate.
She couldn't voice her concern in front of Qie Ranzhe so could only glare at Lin Jingxie with a 'fuckin refuse his offer' expression but it simply had no effect on him. In his defence, Wen Qinxi was willing to eat because he knew no matter how much he ate in the game he obviously wouldn't gain weight. So the nerd indulged oblivious to a certain game setting that would actually cause the character to gain weight according to their in-game diet.
He didn't know about this because he only designed the game operating software not the minor details like storylines or designing of the actual worlds. So he was fed by Qie Ranzhe till the day he made a shocking discovery.
While bathing, Wen Qinxi noticed a little tubby protruding from his once flat tummy. He tried sucking it in but that pouch was not going anywhere. He swore, "Shit!" while hastily putting on his pants and robe before running back to his room to look in the mirror.
