Ling Xuejiu glared at Leng Xuan and couldn’t be bothered to waste words, so she just sat down to eat. Just as she tried some of the vegetables, her heart skipped a beat; the flavor was indeed quite exceptional, far tastier and easier on the palate than the food delivered by the hotel, and it wasn’t greasy at all, but rather very fresh!
Actually, the vegetables made by the hotel weren’t bad, but due to the long distance, by the time they were delivered, they had already changed color. Moreover, the hotel’s dishes had so many condiments that they lost the natural fresh taste of the vegetables.
The bok choy that Leng Xuan had cooked only had oil, salt, and some chicken stock powder. The deliciousness was really in the control of the heat, which kept the veggies bright green while also preserving their natural freshness!
Speaking of heat control, it truly is a significant area of expertise. The same ingredients and the same dish can taste entirely different depending on how they are heated!
After the vegetables, Ling Xuejiu tried the braised carp and stir-fried pork with green peppers without saying a word. The braised carp was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, fresh without being fishy, and with a bit of coriander, green onions, ginger, garlic, chili, and Sichuan pepper, it was truly an endless delight. Lastly, the stir-fried pork was also seasoned with some ginger, garlic, Sichuan pepper, and starch, resulting in tender and fragrant meat, deeply flavorful.
With these three dishes, there was a mix of strong and mild flavors that perfectly complemented one another, just right for gobbling down with rice.
Ling Xuejiu sneered. Although she thought the food was very delicious and highly praised Leng Xuan in her heart, on the surface, she maintained a stern expression, intending to tease Leng Xuan by saying he shouldn’t have added so many chilies and such because, you know, those are bad for the skin.
Before she could say anything, however, Li Mengjie exclaimed with a "wow" and praised, "This is so delicious, Cold Bodyguard, I didn’t expect your cooking skills to be this good, way better than the chefs in five-star hotels! Hmm, Xue Jiu, don’t you agree?"
Ling Xuejiu’s face flushed red. With Li Mengjie saying so, how could she continue to tease Leng Xuan? What if she annoyed him and he no longer wanted to cook in the future? After all, such delicious food wasn’t something you could just eat whenever you wanted!

While Leng Xuan was washing dishes in the kitchen, the two young ladies sat on the sofa watching television.
"Xue Jiu, didn’t you say that your bodyguard’s cooking isn’t to your taste? How come you ate so much today?" Li Mengjie teased with a smile.
Again, Ling Xuejiu’s face turned red, and she replied, "I didn’t eat much at noon, and by the time I got back, I was starving. No matter how good or bad the cooking is, I have to fill my stomach, right? Otherwise, how would I deal with a stomach ache?"
Li Mengjie knew Ling Xuejiu was just being stubborn and was deliberately teasing her for fun, so she laughed and said, "Really? I didn’t notice you ate less at lunch. Don’t you usually eat that much anyway?"
