Gazing strangely at Gao Jun, Su Yurou paused, her mind wandering. "Gao Jun isn’t normally such a gossip," she thought. "Why is he asking this question today?"
Seeing Su Yurou still looked clueless, Gao Jun clearly became somewhat anxious. He stood up straight, looking down at Su Yurou’s watery, wide eyes, his voice slightly hoarse as he said, "Yurou, why aren’t you answering me?"
Su Yurou tilted her head up slightly and blinked her adorable big eyes, saying, "Gao Jun, did you come to me just to ask about this?"
Gao Jun gave a grunt of confirmation.
Su Yurou sighed and said softly and gently, "Just now, I heard Hua Hua saying the same thing... I really don’t know who’s playing such a prank. This morning I only got out of the car with Brother Leng Xuan and then showed him the way, how did it turn into me dating him?"
"Brother Leng Xuan?" Gao Jun was stunned, and in his excitement, blurted out, "That bumpkin is your brother?" But as soon as he said it, he regretted it. Since he was Yurou’s brother, how could he call him a bumpkin? Besides, as a cultured person, even if he thought so, he couldn’t say it out loud. That would suggest discrimination. Immediately, he coughed to mask his embarrassment and said, "Yurou, are you saying that Leng Xuan is your brother?"
Su Yurou gave Gao Jun a look, seemingly surprised by his slip but then seeing that he corrected himself, she didn’t mind, saying, "Yeah, I suppose you could say that."
"Suppose?" Gao Jun felt an unease inside him.
"He saved my life!" Su Yurou said.
Gao Jun furrowed his brows and asked, "What happened?"
Su Yurou pondered for a moment. She normally shared everything with Gao Jun, her close friend, so she went on to tell him the story of what had happened at the bank. She then described how that morning, she had coincidentally seen Leng Xuan waiting for a bus, gave him a ride, escorted him to the school office, and parted ways etcetera.
Gao Jun, half-doubting, asked, "Yurou, is it really just that?" His face showed an unsettled look.
Su Yurou, with an innocent face, lightly laughed and said, "If it’s not that, what else could it be? Gao Jun, what’s wrong with you today? Why is your mood so abnormal?"
"Ah, is it?" Gao Jun’s face reddened, yet inside he was very happy, because the natural expression on Su Yurou’s face told him that there really was nothing between her and that bumpkin Leng Xuan. It was only out of kind-heartedness and gratitude for saving her life that she called Leng Xuan "brother." As for the rumor of her dating Leng Xuan, it was likely just some chatty person at the school who had seen them together and intentionally exaggerated it into something else. With all sorts of gossip in school, why did he have to believe it? In the end, he had made a fool of himself.
At that thought, Gao Jun felt both annoyed and amused, and a bit excited he said, "Yurou, I’m sorry... I think I might have wrongly accused you. Haha, you won’t mind, will you?"
Su Yurou smiled faintly and said, "I know you’re concerned about me, how could I blame you?"
