"Before she could finish speaking, Sheng Ting changed the subject, "Have you had breakfast?"
Shen Weiyi shook her head.
"Good, I haven’t either. Let’s eat together!" Sheng Ting said, then turned around first.
Shen Weiyi watched his back for a moment before catching up to his pace. A moment later, she suddenly asked, "Are you mad?"
Sheng Ting paused before replying, "Not really!" It wasn’t anger, just a bit of concern.
Shen Weiyi looked at his profile, her thoughts stirring. The next second, she heard herself say, "I’ve thought about your question from last time, Sheng Ting, let’s give it a try!"
Sheng Ting abruptly stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her, "What did you say?"
Shen Weiyi repeated herself, "I said, let’s give it a try!" Afraid he hadn’t understood, she added, "I mean, let’s date!"
Her direct approach caught Sheng Ting off guard.
After a while, he finally spoke, "Are you sure?"
Shen Weiyi nodded, "I’m sure!" After thinking it over for so long, it was time.
Sheng Ting looked at her with a complex expression and then nodded, "Okay," he said.
Her calm response made Shen Weiyi doubt whether the person who had said he liked her was really him.
"Are you having regrets?" Shen Weiyi asked uncertainly.
"Hmm?" Sheng Ting looked at her, puzzled.
"You don’t seem very unhappy," Shen Weiyi said.
Wouldn’t a normal person be at least a bit excited to have their confession accepted?
But looking at his expression, it was completely unrelated.
He didn’t even seem happy.
Sheng Ting: "I’m happy." It’s just that his usual calmness and reason prevented him from showing too much excitement.
But to Shen Weiyi, his expression hardly showed happiness at all.
She thought for a moment and said, "Is it because of the photo yesterday? Don’t get me wrong..."
"It’s not," Sheng Ting said. "I know you two are over. It just feels a bit sudden to me."
They had broken up about six months ago. With her personality, if she wanted to reconcile, she wouldn’t have dragged it out till now. It was probably just him still clinging on and not letting go.
However, given their years of affection, he was afraid she might soften.
So her sudden agreement to date him truly surprised him.
"Oh!" Shen Weiyi managed to accept his explanation.
She then began to wonder if she had been too hasty in her agreement.
She didn’t know why, but upon seeing him just now, Shen Weiyi suddenly convinced herself.
Why not give it a try? It was time to start anew.
In the cafeteria, Sheng Ting asked Shen Weiyi, "What would you like to eat? I’ll get it."
"Milk is fine!" Shen Weiyi said.
Moments later, Sheng Ting returned with a tray heaped with food.
Shen Weiyi, looking at the pile of breakfast that could feed several more people, skeptically raised her head to look at Sheng Ting across from her.
Sheng Ting smiled at her and said, "I thought maybe you’d want something else too, and I accidentally bought too much. Pick what you like, and I’ll pack the rest to share with others in the dorm, it won’t go to waste."
Shen Weiyi picked a piece of cake and took a glass of milk, "These will be enough for me."
"Okay!" Sheng Ting took what he wanted to eat and packed up the rest.
As Shen Weiyi bit into her cake, she thought for a moment before looking up again, "Don’t be too nice to me in the future; it might spoil me," just like how she had been with Jiang Zhiyi before.
"You won’t be," Sheng Ting said, then paused before adding, "And even if you are, it doesn’t matter."
