Coughs could be heard from the living room from time to time.
Shen Weiyi went straight over and closed his laptop.
Sheng Ting looked up, puzzled.
Shen Weiyi said, "You’re sick!"
Shen Weiyi said, "Sick people need to rest."
"I’m fine!" Sheng Ting said as he tried to reopen his laptop.
Shen Weiyi frowned and said, "No, sick people need to act like they’re sick, you need to rest now."
Sheng Ting looked at her and slowly asked, "Shen Weiyi, are you concerned about me?"
Shen Weiyi was silent for a moment, then denied vehemently, "I’m worried Aunt Jing will be anxious if you’re sick."
"Oh!" Sheng Ting stared intently at her for a long time, then diverted his gaze and said, "I’ll take good care of myself." After that, he opened the laptop and resumed working.
Shen Weiyi couldn’t help but bite her lower lip in frustration, that wasn’t what she meant to say.
But seeing him already working, she fell silent again and walked away.
Behind her, Sheng Ting looked up at her.
After leaving the living room, Shen Weiyi headed for the kitchen.
Sheng Ting finished typing the last set of data, looked up, and noticed that Shen Weiyi had fallen asleep on the other end of the sofa, clutching a pillow.
She seemed uncomfortable, her brows furrowed.
Sheng Ting watched her for a long time and eventually woke her up, saying, "It’s late, you should go home."
"Oh!" Shen Weiyi got up groggily and began walking out, but halfway through, she remembered something and stopped, saying, "I made you rock sugar pear juice, it’s in the pot, remember to drink it." Then, she walked to the door and was about to change her shoes when she saw Sheng Ting holding his coat and following her out.
"Are you going out too?" Shen Weiyi looked up at him.
Sheng Ting said, "I’ll walk you home."
"No need," Shen Weiyi instinctively refused.
But Sheng Ting had already quickly changed his shoes and was waiting at the door for her.
Shen Weiyi pursed her lips and walked out with him.
Sheng Ting locked the door, then turned and walked toward the direction of the elevator.
Shen Weiyi followed behind him.
They remained silent on the way to the elevator, and when they came out of it, Shen Weiyi suddenly grabbed his hand and said, "You go up, I can go back on my own."
Their apartment was close to the school, just a few minutes’ walk, there was no need to accompany her. Besides, he was still sick.
"I’m hungry!" Sheng Ting said.
"Huh? Oh!" Shen Weiyi was taken aback, then reluctantly let go of his hand.
"Aren’t you hungry?" Sheng Ting looked at her.
Shen Weiyi touched her stomach, and indeed felt a bit hungry.
Eventually, the two found a nearby restaurant and walked in.
Looking at the plain porridge in his bowl and then at the array of food in front of her.
"Well, I know a place near the school that makes good medicinal porridge, shall we go there tomorrow?" Shen Weiyi cleared her throat and suggested.
"No," Sheng Ting refused.
"Oh!" Shen Weiyi’s eyes dimmed.
A second later, Sheng Ting’s voice continued, "I’m quite busy at the lab recently, maybe we can try it when I’m less busy."
Hearing this, Shen Weiyi’s eyes brightened, and she looked at him with a hint of hope, "Then I’ll buy it, and come find you so we can eat together, is that okay?"
Sheng Ting looked at her for a long time and finally said, "That’s fine."
"Then it’s settled," Shen Weiyi breathed a sigh of relief, a smile spreading across her face.
His not rejecting her, did that mean she still had a chance?
