The work at the secretarial office was rather tedious, encompassing daily schedule planning, visitor reception, meeting coordination, official document and correspondence registration, along with the drafting of files and proofreading agreements and invoices, among other tasks.
Each person had their respective area of responsibility.
Most of the time, Secretary Jiang directly assigned the corresponding tasks—only the very important work typically called for a special meeting.

Besides the weekly meetings, interns usually had no chance to enter the conference room.
Everyone had just agreed last night to show Shen Weiyi a lesson by giving her the cold shoulder and letting her sit on the sidelines.
Unexpectedly, Secretary Jiang took notice of her and planned to personally assign her a task.
"Secretary Jiang, she is still an intern," someone reminded.
Secretary Jiang glanced at that person and said, "Since she has joined Shen Technology, she is a member of the Shen Family. The Shen Family does not keep idlers; if one cannot handle the work assigned by the company, they might as well leave right now."
The person was chilled by the look and dared not speak out any further.

"Secretary Jiang, I can do it," Shen Weiyi said calmly.

The intern in question certainly would not be able to complete the task assigned by Secretary Jiang alone.
She waited to see that girl being expelled from the company.
Others thought that since Meng Qiao was the boss’s daughter, Secretary Jiang must be intending to groom her, and not wanting to be too obvious, had called that girl along too.
They then comforted Meng, telling her not to worry, and that she could ask them if she didn’t understand something, promising to help her out.
Meng Qiao smiled and thanked everyone, then couldn’t help but glance in Shen Weiyi’s direction and said, "Weiyi, let’s sit together later, okay? Oh, and if you have any work difficulties in the future, you can ask me for help—we can discuss and solve them together."
"Thank you," Shen Weiyi responded indifferently.
She was neither overly warm nor outright dismissive.
Toward Meng, she could not say she felt like or dislike; it was undeniable that the other was both clever and calculative. But that’s how the workplace was—naïve people do not go far. Shen had no intention of openly falling out, but she also wasn’t keen on making friends, particularly since being with someone too shrewd made it easy to be outmaneuvered, and she had no interest in playing palace intrigue.
