Over the weekend, Shen Weiyi asked Qin Zhen out for dinner.
Last time during the engagement party, although she had noticed some issues between her and Shen Jingqi, Shen Weiyi had been too busy to ask.
"What’s the situation with you and Shen Jingqi? Did you two have an argument?" As soon as they met, Shen Weiyi went straight to the point.
Qin Zhen’s face looked worse than it had two days prior, visibly not in a good state.
Upon hearing this, she pursed her lips and said, "I want to go abroad."
Shen Weiyi immediately understood where the issue lay, "He doesn’t agree with you going?" That guy clings so tightly; with at least a year abroad, it’s understandable he wouldn’t want her to go.
Qin Zhen forced a smile, and her voice carried a bitter note, "He thinks I don’t care about him, don’t care about our relationship. But I think it’s a great opportunity, one I don’t want to give up."
She wasn’t indifferent to their relationship either; she just believed that love wasn’t about momentary presence. She was only going to study abroad for a while, not staying away forever, but she hadn’t expected such an extreme reaction from him.
In a relationship, you can’t just consider the present; you have to plan for the future too.
But the other person simply didn’t get it and would only throw temper tantrums out of frustration.
Sometimes, Qin Zhen really felt exhausted.
Looking at her complexion, Shen Weiyi couldn’t help but think back to herself and Jiang Zhiyi; she said, "If you’re certain it’s what you want, then go for it."
"Do you think I’m being selfish?" Qin Zhen looked up and asked.
"How can that be considered selfish?" Shen Weiyi didn’t believe so, responding, "It’s your life; no one else can make decisions for you. Besides, going abroad doesn’t mean never coming back. As long as your relationship is strong enough, it will withstand the test of time."
"If only he could think like you," sighed Qin Zhen.
She had initially thought that going abroad wasn’t such a big deal, but she hadn’t anticipated such a firm opposition from him.
"Have you tried to have a proper talk with him?" Shen Weiyi felt it wasn’t an insurmountable issue.
Qin Zhen’s gaze darkened as she said, "It’s useless; whenever I mention going abroad, he explodes and refuses to listen to me." Their last conversation about going abroad had ended in a fight, and to this day, he hadn’t contacted her.
Since she hadn’t changed her mind, she hadn’t reached out to him either, so they were still in a cold war.
Shen Weiyi: "Even if you choose to stay for his sake now, you’ll end up regretting it in the future. I think you should talk to him again."
Qin Zhen shook her head, "It’s useless; he’s convinced I don’t value our relationship and simply won’t listen to me."
Shen Weiyi then offered, "How about I talk to him?"
She couldn’t just watch the two of them continue at a stalemate.
Qin Zhen didn’t want to give up on the relationship either and, with gratitude, glanced at Shen Weiyi, "Then please try to persuade him. If he really doesn’t want to listen, then let it be."
Shen Weiyi promptly called Shen Jingqi.
About ten minutes later, he arrived.
Before he got there, Qin Zhen hid at a corner seat.
With the green plants for cover, unless someone came close, they wouldn’t be able to see her.
Shen Jingqi came in with a dark expression, looking like someone owed him money, clearly in a bad mood.
"I just saw Qin Zhen," Shen Weiyi started as soon as they met.
Shen Jingqi paused momentarily, instinctively looking around.
"Don’t bother; she’s already left." Shen Weiyi motioned for him to sit and asked, "So, what are you really thinking?"
