Director Li was the one who saw Shen Weiyi out, inadvertently overhearing Li Yue’s "brave words." After assigning him a new task, he walked back to his own office with his hands behind his back, looking quite satisfied.
Behind him, Li Yue drooped his head, his face wearing an expression that questioned the meaning of life.
Before he had the chance to recover from his sorrow, Gu Xun hooked his shoulder and said, "Let’s go, accompany me to the restroom."
Li Yue: "I don’t want to go to the restroom right now."
All he wanted to do was go in and cling to Old Li’s legs, begging him to change his mind, but would that even be possible?
"No, you do!" Gu Xun didn’t give him a chance to speak further and swiftly dragged him away.
Soon, only Jiang Zhiyi and Shen Weiyi were left at the office entrance.
Jiang Zhiyi cleared his throat and said, "Thank you!"
"No need," Shen Weiyi responded, intending to head back to the classroom.
"Wait," Jiang Zhiyi called out to her urgently, after giving her a glance.
"What is it?" Shen Weiyi looked up.
A flash of embarrassment crossed Jiang Zhiyi’s face as he cleared his throat, "If you’ve changed your mind, I might consider giving you another chance."
Shen Weiyi looked puzzled.
Finally realizing what he meant, she said, "Thank you, but no need!"
Jiang Zhiyi’s face turned dark in an instant, his expression elongated as he walked away hurriedly. But he hadn’t gone three meters before he stormed back, furiously asking, "Why? Do you really not care about me anymore?"
Shen Weiyi replied, indifferent as a gentle breeze, "Yeah, I don’t care anymore."
Jiang Zhiyi glared at her, his face darkened: "If you really didn’t care, you wouldn’t be here. You came to help us, didn’t you? You were afraid that the director would punish us, so you used the excuse to scold those bastards, just because you didn’t want them to blow things up. Shen Weiyi, you hypocritical liar, deep down you still care about me."
"You’re overthinking it," Shen Weiyi denied.
Jiang Zhiyi huffed, "It’s useless to deny it, I know you’re doing this for me, you can’t let go of me in your heart."
"Yes, I came to help you, but not in the way you think," Shen Weiyi said, "I just didn’t want you to be expelled from school because of me."
"No matter the reason, it proves you still have feelings for me," Jiang Zhiyi only listened to what he wanted to hear, ignoring anything else he didn’t want to or couldn’t hear.
Shen Weiyi: "Even if that’s the case, we’re not getting back together."
Jiang Zhiyi’s expression froze, looking at her with shock and hurt, "Why? Are you really that heartless?" He thought she came rushing over to help him because she had forgiven him.
"Jiang Zhiyi," Shen Weiyi said calmly, looking at him, "I initially thought that after some time to cool off, you would reflect on yourself and come to understand where our problems lie. It turns out I was wrong."
He was still so immature.
"I..." Jiang Zhiyi opened his mouth, wanting to explain.
But Shen Weiyi cut him off: "You don’t need to explain. I know you’re just trying to provoke me with them. You’ve always been , making others miserable when you’re unhappy, yet you never really reflect on your own issues. You just demand that others accommodate you. But you’ve forgotten that the world will keep turning without anybody, and no one will forever tolerate another person’s bad temper unconditionally."
"Maybe, we’re really not suited for each other."
Jiang Zhiyi’s complexion turned pale in an instant, his lips pursed, staring at her intently.
