The three-day gaokao quickly came to an end, and the moment Shen Weiyi walked out of the examination room, she felt an unprecedented sense of relief—as if the world lay at her feet.
She thought Jiang Zhiyi would come to find her soon, but he hadn’t shown up even by the time the exam results were released.
On the day of the results, Qin Zhen called her early in the morning.
"Sister, let’s go out and have fun tonight!"
"But aren’t the results out today?" Under normal circumstances, shouldn’t one be glued to their computer tonight?
Or do top students react differently from everyone else?
"Either way, the scores won’t disappear. Think of it as a way to ease the tension before the results come out," Qin Zhen told her over the phone.
"Alright then!" Shen Weiyi agreed without giving it much thought.
In fact, she wasn’t nervous. Shen Juanzhi had never put pressure on her, and she felt she had performed quite well. No matter what the final score was, she’d done everything she could.
Whatever the outcome, she was prepared to face it.
After hanging up, Qin Zhen sent her an address—it was the same bar Shen Tan had taken her to last time.
Shen Weiyi took a nap in the afternoon and left home just after five o’clock. When she arrived at the bar, it was exactly six.
Nightlife hadn’t begun at this hour, and since it was during a holiday, the bar was relatively quiet.
As soon as Shen Weiyi walked in, she saw Qin Zhen waving at her from a corner booth.
Once she sat down, Qin Zhen leaned in and whispered, "This is the liveliest bar near University City; I’ve heard that many students from Z University work part-time here."
"You know about this?" She remembered Shen Tan had mentioned the same thing last time.
"Of course, I made a point of finding out. I brought you here so we can soak up some of the Z University spirit from the future seniors, praying it’ll bless us both with smooth entry to Z University."
This reason seemed quite reasonable, a lot more credible than Shen Tan coming here to check out the guys.
Thinking back, her first meeting with Sheng Ting had been here.
Subconsciously, Shen Weiyi glanced toward the bar, where another young guy was mixing drinks tonight; he was quite handsome but still not quite on Sheng Ting’s level.
Shen Weiyi felt she had performed not too badly in the gaokao, although she didn’t know if she’d make it into Z University, she had definitely improved a lot during this period.
And she owed it all to him.
Shen Weiyi planned to properly thank him once the results were out.
"What are you looking at?"
Qin Zhen followed her gaze and, thinking she was checking out the young guy behind the bar, squeezed her eye at her with a laugh, "I heard the guys here are pretty handsome, and it looks like they are!"
"Not bad," Shen Weiyi remarked.
The handsomest one, she hadn’t even seen yet.
Qin Zhen: "If I get into Z University, I’ll also work part-time here. It’s not about the money; the key is to see handsome guys!"
Shen Weiyi looked at her in surprise; she thought only someone like Shen Tan, who was fixated on looks, would say such a thing. She had never expected to hear it from Qin Zhen one day.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing her surprised expression, Qin Zhen raised her eyebrows.
"I just thought, between money and handsome guys, you’d choose money," Shen Weiyi said frankly.
Qin Zhen smiled, "Watching handsome guys doesn’t stop me from making money. Killing two birds with one stone, I think it’s pretty good."
Shen Weiyi also thought it was pretty good.
Everyone has their own likes and goals; it’s great to be able to do what you want to do.
