As Emily Walker tried to prop herself up with her hands, she realized her limbs were tied up with rope!
Snapping back to her senses, scenes from before she passed out rushed into her mind like short movie clips.
Had she been… kidnapped?
Who was it? Who wanted to kidnap her? Why did they want to kidnap her?
Filled with intense unease, Emily Walker’s movement caused the woman lying next to her to awaken too, her limbs also bound.
Rylee Brownette opened her eyes with a splitting headache, greeted by a clear blue sky.
It wasn’t until she lifted her face that Emily Walker fully saw her features, causing her eyes to grow wide in surprise, “Sister Rylee?”
Rylee Brownette looked up at the sound and noticed Emily Walker beside her, equally puzzled and confused, “Emily? What are you doing here—”
Reaching out with her hands, Rylee Brownette realized her limbs were bound too and her eyes widened in shock.
She raised her head, looking at Emily Walker somewhat bewildered, “What’s going on…?”
Emily Walker shook her head, just as clueless.
Suddenly, a thought came to her.
“It looks like your father is the one who tied me up and brought me here.” This was the scene Emily Walker had seen just before she lost consciousness: Rylee Brownette’s father smothering her with a handkerchief.
But upon hearing this, Rylee Brownette furrowed her brows in astonishment, “My father?”
“Yeah!” Emily Walker nodded, certain that the old man she saw was the one who had brought her here.
However, Rylee Brownette couldn’t believe it. Her father had passed away when she was very young. How could he appear now?
Rylee Brownette was about to say something more when she sensed a figure behind them.
Both of them looked up, unable to see the person’s face under the glare of the sun.
However, they recognized the figure almost immediately.
“It’s you…” Rylee Brownette gaped in shock, staring at the figure in front of her, her face a mix of confusion and disbelief, “Why did you tie us up and bring us here?”
At her words, the old man laughed mockingly, staring painfully at Rylee Brownette, “Why? You can actually ask me why?”
The man before them was none other than the father of Rylee Brownette’s agent who had helped her rise to fame!
“Rylee Brownette, when you were just a third-tier actress, my son spent everything he had to make you famous. Now that you’ve succeeded, you’re getting engaged to some pretty boy! Do you have any idea how heartbroken my son is? Do you know how much pain he’s in!?”
The old man raged, thinking of his son’s pain.
Rylee Brownette furrowed her brows, then took a deep breath and spoke calmly, “I do owe my success today to him, but I’ve never had any personal feelings for him. Did you tie me up and bring me here just for this issue?”
“No personal feelings? Then why did you give him hope!?” the old man yelled furiously.
Rylee Brownette closed her eyes. The entertainment circle was complicated, and she couldn’t explain everything in a few words. Besides, she was engaged now and didn’t want to argue over this matter anymore.
Taking a deep breath, Rylee Brownette looked up at the old man, “I don’t want to argue with you about this. If you tied me up and brought me here because of it, I understand. But why did you bring my friend here?”
Even now, she still didn’t know why he had kidnapped Emily Walker as well.
