Seoul Object Story Chapter 66

The relief camp had a completely different vibe when looked at from the management office building located atop a high hill.

The night sky, with even the stars hiding behind the clouds, cloaked the camp in darkness, cranking up the eerie silence. Streetlights, scattered here and there, pierced through the gloom, creating puddles of faint yellow light that seemed to hover over the ground.

These dim pools illuminated the small, shabby buildings with paint peeling off from the lack of maintenance, and alleyways winding through the camp like a tangled web.

And within such a scenery I could make out men in black drifting through the shadows of the alleyways every now and then.

“Hmm, it doesn’t seem to be that big of a problem, huh?”

Well, at least, not for me. All those ‘Men in Black’ cosplaying Ninja-wannabes were doing was killing all the residents. No big deal, right?

“Sigh… No matter how much I search, I can’t seem to find the place where my juniors are hiding. Plus, even my phone’s dead now.”

The real kicker was that I couldn’t regroup with my juniors. And ever since those ninjas showed up, even the phones had given up.

Sniff, my adorable juniors must be so scared, desperately waiting for me. But here I was, stuck at this management office.

Hmm, should I try to find another way? Or just kill time?

Looking down, I saw countless corpses of the camp residents scattered all over. Sure, the camp residents moved around and acted like zombies, but after taking a closer look, there were some differences.

Although they moved around mindlessly like zombies, they died just as easily as humans. Whether it was from a stab to the heart or bleeding out from a sliced carotid artery, they died all the same. Well, thanks to those ninja wannabes, it was now clear that the residents were not zombies.

Sigh, the outside was still crawling with murderous ninja cosplayers with unknown purposes, so it wasn’t yet time for me to leave the management office. Well, if I had to kill time, I figured I’d poke around inside the building.

I crept deeper into the management office, careful not to make any noise.

I walked down the pitch-black hallway, relying on a single flashlight pointed at the floor. After moving as fast as I could, I arrived at a warehouse-like room in the basement.

When I shone my flashlight around, I saw that the place was a dreary mess of filing cabinets. Naturally, the room reeked of old paper and dust.

I stepped inside, opened a random drawer, and pulled out a file with a familiar face staring back at me—the man who bragged about knowing the client from her childhood.

Didn’t he say he ran a butchery?

The document was a directory, full of mundane details like age, place of residence, family relations, etc. I flipped through the directory page by page and saw various people listed in the directory. There was even the landlord of the building where the client lived.

Some of these people had chased after me like zombies, while others had shared chicken skewers with my junior.

But even after I went through the whole directory, there was no mention of the client.

Plus, something was off about the file on the client’s younger brother. Unless this document was incorrect, and her file was simply missing—

How am I even supposed to make sense of this? Who on earth is our client? And what’s the deal with her so-called kidnapped younger brother?
