Wanxin went to the airport to pick up Qi Ran. Once in the car, Qi Ran pressed her temples, her face showing signs of weariness, utterly exhausted.
She tilted her head to look at Wanxin’s profile and noticed her daughter had lost a lot of weight, which caused her heart to ache.
After closing her eyes to rest for a while, Qi Ran brought up the issue Wanxin had mentioned over the phone last night.
"The person you encountered at the new company?"
Qi Ran was aware of the nature of Huazeng Group’s business, which was prone to offending people.

"It’s not that." Wanxin shook her head. "I don’t know when I offended her."
Wanxin truly couldn’t recall how she had ever offended Cheng Yao before; she remembered everyone she had ever clashed with, and Cheng Yao was not on that list.
"I don’t know when, nor the reason," Qi Ran furrowed her brows. "Then what exactly did she say to you?"
"She said that sooner or later, she will let me know just how much she hates me." Wanxin thought about Cheng Yao’s words from last night and shook her head with a smile. "She also said that in the end, only one of us can live."
Qi Ran snorted with a laugh upon hearing this.
As a lawyer of many years, what kind of threats hadn’t she heard before?

"Yes, moved closer to the company."
"And how about meals?" Qi Ran was more worried about this issue. Her younger daughter’s culinary skills were limited to boiling water for instant noodles, but she couldn’t eat that every day.
"Mom, the takeout industry is pretty well-developed nowadays..."
"The food from outside isn’t clean, and on top of that, you’ve received death threats. Aren’t you afraid someone might poison your food?"
Wanxin fell silent upon hearing this.
