"It’s the Old Master who asked me to wait for you here. He said you would surely not want to join the bustling crowd in the front, and he asked me to greet you. Let’s go, Miss."
Raina North followed Auntie Warren to Old Master North’s room.
It was quite far from the banquet hall, making it very quiet as the sound could not reach here.
Old Master North was lying alone in bed, his face etched with deep wrinkles, and his hair was entirely white.
In just a few short days since she last saw him, her grandfather seemed to have aged considerably.
Raina’s heart sank, and she quickened her pace, "Grandfather!"
Saying this, her fingers reached for her grandfather’s wrist.
Old Master North avoided Raina’s fingers, opened his eyes to look at her crouching by his bed, and smiled happily, "Raina, you’re here. Have you been well lately?"
"Yes, grandfather, I’ve been especially well."
Old Master North’s gaze was gentle, "Since you are doing well, I can be at ease. Raina, you were my biggest worry before."
Listening to the Old Master’s words that sounded like a last testament, Raina felt particularly uncomfortable, "Grandfather, I just lied to you, I haven’t been well, not well at all. If you weren’t here guarding, watching, and advising me, my life would be a complete mess."
"Silly child, don’t talk about yourself like that." Old Master North reached out to stroke Raina’s hair, his eyes infinitely gentle, "Raina, don’t worry, your grandfather is doing well. I still want to see you have a bunch of little ones."
"Mm." Raina nodded vigorously, "Grandfather, let me check your pulse."
Raina placed her delicate fingers on Old Master North’s pulse, and after a few minutes, she released them.
Her expression relaxed a lot.
Grandfather’s health wasn’t good, but it wasn’t terrible either. He had been taking good care of himself recently.
Old Master North chuckled as he looked at her, "Now you can be at ease."
Raina rested her cheek on Old Master North’s hand.
Old Master North looked lovingly at Raina, with a trace of sadness deep in his eyes; such a good child, heaven must treat her kindly.
