Chapter 259: Chapter 264: Enemy Situation
Xu Qigang thought for a moment before making another phone call.
“Hello, may I ask who is calling?”
“Is that the Captain? Hello Captain!” The communications operator was so excited he almost jumped, “Captain, do you have any orders?”
“Find me the instructor!”
“Captain, hold on a moment, I’ll go call him right away!”
“Fine! I’ll call back in ten minutes.” Xu Qigang hung up the phone, leaning against the counter, patiently counting down the time.
He had come straight here to visit his old friend Li Bin after leaving the township government. The two had faced life-and-death situations together at the Southern Border Rescue Field. Li Bin had been forced to retire due to an injury but lived comfortably because his father was the county Secretary.
Xu Qigang watched the clock, and soon he dialed the number again. The phone was quickly answered, and Zhou Hong roared urgently, “Living Yama, you better come back quickly, or else someone is going to steal your wife!”
Xu Qigang smiled, “Tell me about the ‘enemy’ situation.”
“You are currently surrounded by enemies; the situation is extremely critical.” Damn, he had left him this arduous task just before going home.
Thought of himself, a renowned reconnoitre from the War Wolf Rescue Team, he was now starting to scout out potential romantic rivals.
Remember, it’s romantic rivals, not enemy situation.
“Didn’t I tell you to keep an eye out and not give the ‘enemy’ any opportunity?” Xu Qigang had a plan in mind, although he didn’t sound as anxious as Zhou Hong.
“I can’t monitor everything. Let me tell you, Chen Yingjie just called to say his sister invited our sister-in-law over for dinner. She was too eye-catching. That Su Huai’an guy seems to harbor ill intentions. We need to be on guard!” Zhou Hong rambled on.
He had received a call from Chen Yingjie at home half an hour before. If it wasn’t for the difficulty in contacting Living Yama back at his hometown, they would have called earlier.
“Su Huai’an?” Xu Qigang searched his memory, “Is he from the Su family? The youngest professor at the National Security University?”
“Hmm! I got it!” He was about to hang up.
Zhou Hong panicked on the other end, “Hey, hey, hey… don’t hang up! What do you understand? What’s the use of knowing?”
“I know the ‘enemy’ situation now!”
“What about the instructions?”
“What battle instructions? Are you really treating this like a war?” Xu Qigang said irritably, “Enough, this is my private affair.” He then decisively ended the call.
Zhou Hong’s face soured on the other end, muttering to himself, “What does he mean by that? Has Living Yama figured it out or not?”
Xu Qigang had made the call on the second floor and went downstairs immediately after finishing. In the living room, Li Bin was anxiously waiting; his smile widened with relief upon seeing Xu Qigang come down. His right leg had lost feeling, and he usually relied on crutches to move.
At the age of thirty, his figure was somewhat lean. Fair-skinned and genteel-looking, he resembled an elegant professor more than a former reconnoitre who had seen action on the rescue field.
“Are you done with the call?”
Li Bin was slightly older than Xu Qigang. The two, along with Meng Fan, used to be an iron trio.
The war had resulted in one death and one injury, a tremendous blow to Xu Qigang.
“Yeah!” Xu Qigang nodded, looking at his leg and furrowing his brow, “How’s it going? Any feeling in it?”
“No!” Li Bin shook his head despondently, “I’m for life, with no hope of standing up again.”
“Don’t give up, I’m here because I heard that there’s technology in America that can treat this.” Xu Qigang had discussed this with his attending doctor during a routine check-up.
