Her eyes brightened, and she shouted excitedly, "You Li!"
Wu Youli turned around in surprise, almost thinking she’d heard wrong. "Sheng Ning, you’re back?"
"Why didn’t you tell me before you came back? We thought you’d be away for a longer time." Wu Youli’s eyes moistened with excitement, and she stood there, holding a lunch box and looking at her helplessly.
"You’re silly!" Sheng Ning took the lunch box and gave her a hug. "I’m back, and from now on, I’ll protect you and Dabao."
"It’s so good that you’re back." Wu Youli started crying in Sheng Ning’s arms, sobbing, "We’ve missed you every day while you were gone, wishing for your quick return. Oh right, Dabao fractured his calf bone, but thankfully, the doctor said it’s not serious, otherwise... otherwise..."
Because Wu Youli was part of the drama club, she didn’t usually spend time with Dabao and the others. Today, when she heard Dabao had an accident, she was nearly scared to death; she was so afraid Dabao would end up like Liu Yilan. If that had happened, she would have died from guilt.
"It’s okay, it’s okay!" Sheng Ning patted Dabao on the back, comforting her, "It’s all good! Stop crying, or you won’t look pretty anymore!"
Wu Youli gave her a resentful glare, "I’m not vain."
"Really? I didn’t know that," teased Sheng Ning. "Who was it that kept insisting on buying Baique Antelope cream for their face?"
"You..." Wu Youli, with a thin face, couldn’t keep crying after being teased like that, awkward and embarrassed. "Let’s go see Dabao, she was just complaining about being hungry!"
The two of them arrived at Lu Dabao’s hospital room and saw Lu Dabao with her left leg suspended in mid-air, covered in a white plaster cast.
"Why are you so slow? I’m almost starving to death!" Lu Dabao complained, her voice muffled by the blanket covering her head. Her military boxing and speed were comparable to Chen Huaying’s, and now tripped by Hai Lan, she felt utterly embarrassed.
How was she going to face Chen Huaying now?
"What’s the matter?" Sheng Ning asked quietly.
"Embarrassed, she’s too embarrassed to see anyone."
Sheng Ning nearly burst out laughing, pretending to be serious, "It is embarrassing. If it were me, I wouldn’t eat for three days."
"Sheng Ning?" Lu Dabao quickly threw off the blanket and looked up with a surprised shout, "Did you bring me something delicious?"
"Yes!" Sheng Ning had already filled her pockets with lots of wedding candies and immediately emptied all the candies onto the bed. "Wedding candies, all for you."
"Really? That’s great! Sheng Ning, you’re the best, it wasn’t in vain that I missed you every day." Lu Dabao’s eyes beamed as she stuffed handfuls of candies into her pockets.
"We didn’t get a chance to attend your wedding," Wu Youli said regretfully. "It would have been great if we could have been there!"
"Yes, exactly. If we could have been there, it would have been full of delicious food." Lu Dabao quickly agreed, her eyes sparkling as she looked at her.
"No worries! When Chen Huaying is on leave, we’ll call up Liu Yilan, and I’ll cook a meal to make up for it."
"That’s fantastic! I haven’t seen Chen Huaying since she transferred!" Wu Youli beamed, her gentle face extra captivating.
Lu Dabao’s injury was similar to the one Sheng Ning had suffered when she fell off the stage: a fracture. With proper rest, she would recover well; as long as she didn’t run or jump to cause secondary damage, there would be no complications. There was no need for hospitalization, and she left the infirmary that afternoon.
