“By the way, I think you should go home for a while,” Hai Shen said meaningfully after giving them a glance.
A flicker of emotion crossed Su Huai’an’s chiseled face as he grabbed Chen Huaying, “You go change, and come with me to the General Union.”
“Alright! Wait for me at the school gates, I’ll meet you in ten minutes.” Chen Huaying ran off like a rabbit, quickly sprinting towards the dormitory area.
Hai Shen watched, dumbfounded, “Is ten minutes really enough? It takes Hai Lan at least an hour just to leave the house.” Just choosing clothes could make her hesitate for half an hour.
Su Huai’an’s lips curled into a faint smile he didn’t notice himself. He came back to his senses only when he heard Hai Shen’s voice. “Tell me! What exactly happened?”
“You’ve been away and might not be aware. The mission in S country failed—Living Yama and Chen Yingjie were sent for a rescue mission.”
“Has already returned to the General Union with your grandfather.”
“I see, thanks for leading the way!” So much had happened, and neither his father nor his uncle had said a word, which made Su Huai’an very uncomfortable. However, he was always deep in thought and, even if upset, he wouldn’t show it.
The three drove from National Security University towards the General Union. They were all old acquaintances. After passing security, they parked the car and split up.
Hai Shen first went to the infirmary. After talking to the nurse, he went to Hai Lan’s room. Just as he was about to knock, a conversation inside made him stop his hand abruptly.
“Doctor, do you understand what I mean?” Hai Lan lay weakly on the pillow, “Just do as I say, understand?”
“Hai Lan, your method is improper.”
Hearing the voice, Hai Shen knew this doctor was an old subordinate of the master, who had looked after his grandfather for two years.
“What’s improper about it?” Hai Lan teared up out of grievance, “Yang Wenying has bullied me to this extent; shouldn’t I stand up for myself?”
“Yang Wenying is indeed wrong. She shouldn’t have intentionally hurt your foot.”
“What do you mean ‘wrong’? She was malicious, injuring my foot in front of so many people. Isn’t that slapping our Hai family’s face? She’s disrespecting my father, grandfather, and uncle.” Hai Lan waved her fists hysterically, “I don’t care, you must help me this time, Yang Wenying must pay the price.”
“Just tell me, will you help or not?”
“Hai Lan, your injury is not that severe. I can’t falsely claim it’s very serious in good conscience! And the injury can be examined—you haven’t even had a cast put on, nobody would believe it’s a fracture!” the doctor struggled.
“Then put on a cast!” Hai Lan said fiercely, “Don’t think now that you have made it, you can sever ties with the Hai family just because you’re not in the main compound anymore.”
Her words made the doctor’s forehead veins bulge, “Hai Lan, I say this for your sake. Your injury is not that serious, deliberately atting a cast is contrary to both the injury and recovery.” He originally reported her injury as a minor fracture to help her, but she was still dissatisfied, insisting on it being labeled as a fracture.
Was this not forcing him to violate medical ethics?
“Just say whether you’ll do it or not?” Hai Lan glared at him, her eyes red.
“Fine! Since you insist, I’ll give face to the old master and your father, but if this causes any complications, don’t blame anyone else.”
“It won’t involve you, don’t worry, I’ll recover completely,” Hai Lan said, satisfied at having gotten her way. She imagined Yang Wenying being expelled from the General Union Song and Dance Troupe, feeling a rush of comfort.
She had long harbored resentment towards Yang Wenying, blatantly biased toward Sheng Ning, she was unjustly a leader of the troupe.
