"Boss, let’s wait outside! It’s too friggin’ weird in here!" someone spoke with a sob, trembling.
The leader didn’t insist this time, instead waving everyone outside to disperse to prevent Song Juan from bravely calling the police and catching them all at once.
Everyone rushed toward the door in a frenzy, but couldn’t open the factory door no matter what.
If before they just felt it was a bit strange, now, they felt it was downright bizarre!
The door was clearly not even latched, how could several strong men not be able to pull it open?
"Boss, I think I see someone over there..." Someone was scared out of their wits, their legs shaking, yellow liquid flowing down their pant legs, yet their trembling finger pointed to the rooftop of the abandoned factory.
With their words, almost everyone began to hallucinate, the originally spacious abandoned factory seemed to really become shadowy.
"Smash it! Break the door open!" The leader’s face looked grim; he never imagined they’d encounter such a mishap this time.
No need for his specific orders, the others were already going all out to smash the door.
The sounds of banging echoed in the abandoned factory.
Xia Mian sat up, leaning against the wall, silently counting down, three, two, one...
As the last number fell in her heart, the door crashed down, and the men smashing the door couldn’t dodge in time, all being flattened by the door!
The leader was already somewhat uneasy, and seeing his accomplices neatly squashed under the two doors, unable to rise, he panicked completely.
In his panic, he turned around and saw Xia Mian leisurely sitting in the corner.
"You think , you can go back alive? I’m telling you, even if I die today, I’ll take you down with me!" The leader strode toward Xia Mian.
Xia Mian was utterly fearless, even as the man strode toward her, she deftly untied the ropes binding her hands.
Then, under his shocked gaze, she removed the blindfold and gag.
The bandit who had been aggressive seemed to be under a spell, frozen in place.
"You...you..." The leader’s face showed fear, though standing before him was a pretty young girl, he inexplicably felt a chill down his spine!
Xia Mian raised her hand to rub her wrist, her eyebrows curving in an innocent smile, "What about me?"
Returning from Three Thousand Worlds, Xia Mian was no longer the bullied little rabbit!
"It’s you...you’re the one behind the tricks!" The leader swallowed, showing a fierce look in his eyes, "I’ll kill you!"
After speaking, the leader drew a dagger from his waist and rushed toward Xia Mian.
Before Xia Mian could move, a figure suddenly darted in from outside the abandoned factory, kicking the leader’s wrist.
The dagger fell, caught by the figure’s reverse grip, then the sharp blade was pressed against the leader’s neck, "Don’t move!"
Lu Zechuan’s voice carried a chill and seven parts anger, his dark eyes radiating a strong aura.
"Are you okay?" he spoke with his back to Xia Mian, his voice magnetic and pleasing to the ear.
Xia Mian smiled, "Something’s wrong, my wrist is all bruised."
Lu Zechuan squinted, drawing a blood line on the leader’s neck with the dagger, "You guys have some nerve!"
In broad daylight, daring to snatch people off the street?
"None of your damn business!" The leader glared fiercely, showing no sign of being intimidated, as if sure Lu Zechuan wouldn’t dare to end him.
Lu Zechuan’s thin lips curled slightly in a wicked arc, and the dagger moved forward again, blood spurting from the leader’s neck, "She’s under my protection."
Lu Zechuan exerted more force.
Xia Mian raised her hand to grasp his wrist, softly speaking, "Murder is illegal."
Lu Zechuan turned to meet her bright star-like eyes, his heart inexplicably softened.
Killing is indeed illegal, but he has a thousand ways to clear himself.
But, since the young one doesn’t like him being so bloody, he’ll soften his approach!
Lu Zechuan retracted the dagger, kicking the leader away, "Kidnapping, attempted murder, these charges will see you rot in prison."
The leader was kicked by Lu Zechuan, vomiting blood, unable to get up for a while.
Xia Mian gently shook Lu Zechuan’s arm, "They’re not just kidnapping."
Lu Zechuan’s dark eyes narrowed, "You mean..."
Xia Mian nodded, walking over to kick the leader’s head, "Who asked you to kidnap me?"
The leader turned his head away from Xia Mian, his mind a bit muddled, the only relief being his will was firm.
He was indeed entrusted.
But in their line, one can’t betray the employer, it’s an unwritten rule.
So now, even though a voice in his head keeps urging him to tell the truth, he stubbornly bites his lip without making a sound.
"You’re quite a tough nut." Xia Mian raised her brows, but she’s in no rush, won’t tell now, they’ll eventually tell.
"I’ve already asked Uncle Sun to report it to the police, let them handle these people!" Lu Zechuan said indifferently, taking out a tissue to wipe his hands.
Xia Mian turned back and saw the red ribbon on Lu Zechuan’s wrist, its little rabbit having three splits.
Looking at Lu Zechuan, Xia Mian understood that no matter what she said, this man probably wouldn’t listen.
All she could do was silently sigh, "Thank you for today!"
Lu Zechuan responded with an "mm," didn’t say another word.
Just as the atmosphere between them was getting awkwardly ambiguous, Song Juan stumbled in carrying a box.
Rushing in too quickly, Song Juan was drenched in sweat, her face pale, lips blue, hair messily clinging to her temples, her clothes soaked through.
"Mian’er!" Seeing Xia Mian safe and sound, Song Juan finally put her worried heart at ease, rushing forward to engulf Xia Mian in her arms, crying out loud, "My child, if anything happened to you, mom wouldn’t want to live!"
Song Juan held on tight, making Xia Mian feel like she was being squeezed into her flesh.
But Xia Mian didn’t mind at all, this was her real mom!
A mother who truly cared for her life and death!
Xia Mian felt a knot in her throat, her voice hoarse, "Mom, I’m okay."
Song Juan still dared not let go, afraid if she did, she’d lose Xia Mian again.
Outside the abandoned factory, the sound of police sirens blared, Uncle Sun arrived with the cops.
The leading officer had an handsome look with features that bore a resemblance to Lu Zechuan.
After exchanged words, he turned to eye Xia Mian, then waved for the policemen to take the culprits.
"I’ll take you guys home!" Lu Zechuan glanced at Song Juan’s still pale face and her scratched car.
Song Juan’s current state really wasn’t fit for driving.
"Thank you then." Song Juan didn’t stand on ceremony with Lu Zechuan.
Before, Lu Zechuan hit her daughter, she couldn’t show him a good face, but today, he saved her daughter, he’s their benefactor now, can’t treat benefactors and foes the same way.
Lu Zechuan smiled politely, opened the back door for Song Juan and Xia Mian.
Then had Uncle Sun drive Song Juan’s car for repair.
