“Are you not coming with me?” asked Ling Chuxi. She could hear from Huangfu Qingjue’s words that he was clearly bidding farewell and she felt a faint distress in her heart all of a sudden. She had to force herself to calm down in order to ask this simple question.
“I am still unable to be with you now. It would only bring you too much trouble,” said Huangfu Qingjue with a reluctance to part clearly seen in his eyes.
“Is it because of your identity?” Ling Chuxi warranted a guess. She was naturally referring to his identity as a descendant of the prestigious Huangfu family.
His assumed identity as Deity Temple’s Divine Messenger was perhaps noble and greatly respected in the eyes of many people but compared to his identity as a descendent of the Huangfu family, it wasn’t counted for much. Ling Chuxi even remembered Huangfu Qingjue’s disdain for his Divine Messenger identity when he had casually talked about it back then.
As a descendant of the Huangfu family, he definitely had his own reasons for his appearance in this world and having to cover up his true identity by assuming the identity of Divine Messenger. As to what Huangfu Qingjue’s actual identity was exactly, that also remained unknown to Ling Chuxi at the moment. One thing was for sure though, the matter of Huangfu Qingjue’s identity was not a simple one.
Although Huangfu Qingjue did not say so explicitly, Ling Chuxi knew that he was unwilling to bring any calamity upon her and that he was staying away for her own good. Therefore, there was no anger or upset feelings in her heart. All there was, were feelings of warmth and being touched at his thoughtfulness.
Huangfu Qingjue did not confirm nor deny anything, he only looked at Ling Chuxi deeply.
“If I have the sufficient cultivation one day, I hope you will be able to tell me everything then,” said Ling Chuxi softly as she held Huangfu Qingjue’s hand. “Actually, even if I do not have the ability, I am also willing to share your burdens with you in everything,” she continued, her voice so calm, yet so determined.
At this moment, Ling Chuxi’s gaze was as determined as that of Huangfu Qingjue’s gaze when he had disregarded everything and swept her into his embrace when they were caught in the barrier and he had used his back as a shield against the blade-like qi flow.
A tender and loving expression appeared on Huangfu Qingjue’s handsome face as he gently swept Ling Chuxi into an embrace. His actions were so gentle, it was as if he was holding the most precious treasure in the world in his arms.
“When the day comes whereby I am able to protect you and ensure that you would not be the least bit harmed, I will tell you everything,” murmured Huangfu Qingjue’s low and magnetic voice in Ling Chuxi’s ear as she leaned into the nostalgic warmth of his body.
As Ling Chuxi stretched out her arms to hug Huangfu Qingjue as well, her heart felt like it was constantly overflowing with some kind of warmth. In the depths of her heart, she became even more determined to definitely become stronger and absolutely not be a liability to Huangfu Qingjue in any way, so there will finally come a day when she is able to stand by his side.
Her forehead suddenly felt warm as a gentle touch flitted over it just like that. Huangfu Qingjue gently pressed his lips upon Ling Chuxi’s forehead.
“When I am not around, take care of yourself well,” Huangfu Qingjue said softly to Ling Chuxi after placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.
“All right, you too,” said Ling Chuxi, raising her head to look at Huangfu Qingjue, unwilling to bid him farewell.
Then, a light appeared before her and Huangfu Qingjue was already lightly hovering above the ground, floating over towards the mountain peaks in the distance. In her line of sight, all that was left of him were the enchanting silvery threads of his hair.
Once Huangfu Qingjue’s figure disappeared, Ling Chuxi distinguished her directions and was about to rush over in the direction of Nan Xia Country.
However, just then, a sudden and strong mighty suppression fell from the sky. In an instance, the entire Silver Ancient Mountain Range fell into a dead silence. Even the snowflakes that were floating down from the sky were suspended mid-air, as if everything in the entire world had quietened down to a halt.
How terrifying and mighty this suppression was! Ling Chuxi could clearly see the silhouette of the snowflake before her eyes, just quietly sitting in mid-air.
It was the first time in her life that Ling Chuxi felt such a strong and mighty suppression.
