Jin Buhuan led Ling Chuxi and the rest to the back of the chamber of commerce through a long corridor. The corridor felt endless. Even after walking for a long time, the exit still could not be seen, and it became even quieter.
Lan Xinyu and the rest felt their hearts race as questions popped into their minds. From the outside, this chamber of commerce did not appear to be that big, but why did this corridor seem endless? However, just as they were thinking that, the scene before them changed.
An empty space entered their sight, and in the middle of it was a huge array of many lines that gleamed strangely under the sunlight. It had eight corners, and a person stood at each corner. Seeing Jin Buhuan bringing people over, they all stood up and bowed to him. Ling Chuxi and the others, however, were completely ignored.
Ling Chuxi observed the array but did not understand its mechanics. The middle of the array could accommodate around ten people, so they would have to make two trips to send over the entire group. As for Duan Feiyu’s group of five, they wouldn’t fit on either trip.
Jin Buhuan turned around and smiled apologetically at Duan Feiyu. “Master Duan, please wait for a little while. After I have sent off Miss Ling and the rest, I will send your group over.”
The corner of Duan Feiyu’s lips twitched. Although he was unsatisfied with the arrangement, he could only nod. They could not afford to offend the Feng Yan Union.
“Miss Ling, can all of you please stand in the array? Dizziness is a common side effect, so don’t worry if you experience it. You all will reach the other side in the blink of an eye,” Jin Buhuan said to Ling Chuxi with a smile.
“Thank you for all your hard work, Shopkeeper Jin.” Ling Chuxi nodded with a slight smile.
Duan Feiyu watched the interaction, confused. Why was this Shopkeeper Jin’s attitude towards Ling Chuxi out of the ordinary? Wasn’t it going overboard to be this accommodating? Could it be that Ling Chuxi had caught this fatty’s eye? No, that was impossible! Fatty Jin would surely not dare to try and curry favor with Ling Chuxi during work affairs, and just wasting the fees of this one trip would be enough to get called in for questioning. The more Duan Feiyu thought about it, the more confused he became. Unable to think of a reason for Jin Buhuan’s odd behavior, he could only let it be and wait quietly with his group.
After Ling Chuxi and some of the others stood inside the array, Jin Buhuan waved at the people standing at the corners and ordered, “Alright, start up the transportation array. Make sure it’s stable.”
The people who were in charge of starting up the array remained stoic, but they were secretly surprised. The main shopkeeper had never given such instructions before. Who exactly was the person they were transporting this time? Although their minds were full of questions, nobody said anything as they quickly got to work. They each took out an odd white crystal and put it in their respective corners. Nobody could see what else they did, but very quickly, the array started to change.
The entire transportation array was suddenly covered in a bright white light, and the figures of Ling Chuxi and the rest slowly disappeared amidst it. A moment later, the light faded, and Ling Chuxi and the others were gone!
