Curious about what she was up to, and not wanting to miss on her show, phones were taken out and started recording.
Diamond, seeing that, even smiled as she felt that what she was about to do deserve to be recorded and shared with others.
Because in the future, when this surprise finally gets known by the world, they will know where and how it originated. And for whom, to be exact.
And it was for her parents. The people she loved dearly in this life and in the next lifetimes if they are there.
Without them, she wouldn’t be here.
Since it was her birthday, she only felt that it was right for her to do what she was about to do.
They were the greatest birthday gifts she could ever ask for.
And for that, she was going to cherish them.
As they wondered what she was up to, the melody started playing, drawing every guest who was in the room.
Meanwhile, Diamond at the front was tapping her feet as she swayed from side to side, her eyes closing as she started humming.
Seeing her like that, it suddenly dawned on everyone.

They had seen her singing in front of thousands of people in a language that they didn’t know. She shone on the stage and during that time; it was like she was born for the stage.
The mic suited her perfectly and to think that she was going to sing.
They were all excited.
And the people most excited at the moment happened to be Ma and Pa Perry. The couple held each other’s hands tightly as their hearts thumped wildly at the thought of their daughter singing them a song.
It didn’t matter what kind of song it was. This was truly an honor and the best gift they could ever ask for.
And when she opened her mouth and started singing, Ma Perry’s eyes reddened.

Ma Perry’s tears were streaming down her cheeks as she listened to this unfamiliar song, which was talking about a mother’s love for her children.
Just listening to Diamond singing, she was picturing from the moment she learnt that she was pregnant and was going to become a mother for the first time.
The happiness and nervousness which filled her back then. Just thinking about the past and her children made her tear up.
She wasn’t the only one tearing up, as everyone’s mood was quite somber at this moment, and the culprit was just starting.
Diamond started singing the chorus of the song, fully invested in what she had started.

At this moment, Diamond’s eyes snapped open and looked at her mother, though her eyes were red.
The last time she sang and recorded this song, as well as the other one she was going to sing later, she was emotional.
And now that she was singing in front of her mother, she couldn’t help but feel overly emotional.
That was more so as she sang the last verse and chorus of the song.
With her gaze locked on her mother, who was shedding tears, obviously affected by the song, she started walking towards her mother, one step at a time as she sang.

She held onto her hand and made her stand up, with a teary smile on her face as she continued the last two sentences of the song.

And in every step, you make your children know peace," she sang, ending the song perfectly, leaving a lingering sensation in everyone’s heart.
Endless tears cascaded down Ma Perry’s cheeks as she embraced Diamond in her arms.
Diamond smiled wryly as she felt her mother’s arms around her, her eyes red as if any second, she would cry.
Seeing her mother reacting like that, she knew that she had done it and that was the only thing that she wanted to achieve.

That was, after all, the ode to Ma Perry.
