Sinner System Chapter 32

"Alright, looks like everyone’s here. Before we start today’s session, let’s discuss the results of your raids, shall we? Three of the four raids went without issue, while the fourth was a bit more, shall we say, eventful.

Of course, the results of each of the raids isn’t the sole determining factor in your overall scores, your individual performances carry more weight.

Some of you did very well, others were more average, and unfortunately, six of you failed. Your results will be officially mailed to you later today.

But before that, I’ll announce your results now and provide a bit of a feedback based on the reports submitted by the Hunters who supervised each of the teams," Remarked Glenn, looking around with a wry smile as a nervous tension blanketed the class.

Today’s the 21st of March, 2168, the following Monday after the day of the raid. I’d spent most of the weekend lazing about and relaxing, so I’m feeling pretty well-rested and fresh.

Now, then, let’s see what kind of a score I got from my performance during the raid. I’m curious to hear about how the students in the other raids did too.

Glenn began announcing the scores one by one, along with a bit of brief advice to each student.

As I’ve mentioned before, the passing threshold is fifty percent, but even if you fail, so long as your total percentage across all the exams during the year comes to fifty percent or above, you can still graduate.

"Next, Trey Scown. Your score is...forty-five percent. Unfortunately, you failed, but-...," Began Glenn.

"What?! How the hell did I fail?! I killed more Monsters than anyone during my raid!" He exclaimed in disbelief.

Heh, nice.

"While your individual performance in battle was impressive, you lost a lot of points due to your poor leadership. Most notably, opting for an unbalanced, selfish party formation and refusing to listen to any input your party members.

Additionally, you made no effort to coordinate with them in battle. You were only focused on yourself and trying to stand out, consequently putting your party members in unnecessary danger," Responded Glenn sternly.

"N-No, I-...!"

"It doesn’t matter how strong you are. With that kind of attitude, if you can’t or won’t work with others, you’ll only be a liability to any party you join. There’s no place for such selfishness and pride for Hunters.

I know it might seem harsh, but the Captain of a party plays a vital role in raids, and are thus assessed more strictly. That’s why those who were selected as the party leaders for each team were given the option to decline the role of leadership.

Since you accepted the role, you, along with the Captains of the other parties, were thus subject to a stricter criteria than the other students. A full breakdown of your score will be provided in the mail with your official results, be sure to go through it and learn from your mistakes," Glenn advised him.

"But, I-...! Tch, fine...this is bullshit," He muttered saltily.

"Alright, next up is Ariella Velle. Excellent job, you got a perfect score. Keep up the good work," Smiled Glenn, giving her a nod of approval.

"Thank you, sir, I’ll do my best," She replied, looking pretty encouraged.

Oh?

The highest score before this was a little over eighty percent, while the majority among those who passed netted scores between sixty to seventy percent.

Glenn went through a few more scores, none of them particularly remarkable, including a couple more fails as well.

"Now, for our second student with a perfect score. Kaivel Intrix. Great job."

Huh? Wait, really?

I mean, I did beat the Dungeon Boss and all, but thanks to Trey’s shitty formation, I didn’t really get to do a whole lot in the lower floors, at least not as much as I would’ve been able to if I’d been at the front like I should’ve been.

"What?! No! How?!" Blurted out Trey.

"You should really be more concerned about your own score instead of getting riled up about someone else’s score, especially when that someone saved your life," Sighed Glenn in exasperation.

"Grr..."

"Anyway, Kai...despite being forced into a position in the formation ill-suited to your abilities, you adapted well and performed effectively. And of course, you took down the Dungeon Boss by yourself, saving everyone. Well done, keep working hard," Said Glenn with a smile.

Huh, so Trey’s shitty leadership actually helped me get a better score, since it gave me an opportunity to show off my ability to adapt.

Go figure, I guess.

"Thanks, I will," I replied with a nod.

Hm, maybe I’ll drop by the gym later and test out my gains from the increase to my stats.

I can’t really go all out in our Practical Training classes since I don’t want anyone to notice that I’ve gotten stronger, I’d like to stay lowkey and avoid drawing any more attention to myself than I already have.

Hey, Ai, will my Skills get stronger the more powerful I get?

<Yes and no, depending on the Skills>

<As you know, your Command Skill will become more effective the more powerful you grow>

<The same applies to Devour and Drain, they should move faster the more powerful you grow>

<However, that is not applicable to most of your other Skills, such as Obliterate and debuffs like Lethargy, not to mention your Greed Skills, Treasury and Appraisal>

Nice, I was hoping that Devour and Drain can get faster, that’s the answer I was looking for. If those Skills grow fast enough to catch up to Monsters as fast as the Hypersonic Bat I fought, my arsenal will become a lot more versatile.

Although, I should be careful...I shouldn’t rely too heavily on my Skills.

Don’t want to end up neglecting my physical abilities and combat technique if I end up leaning on my Skills too much.

I definitely wouldn’t have survived my fight against the Hypersonic Bat if it wasn’t for my training.

I wouldn’t have had the reflexes or reaction time to evade its attacks, I would’ve died well before I got a chance to use Obliterate.

My sword skills definitely have some room for improvement too, I think I’m pretty solid on offense with my blade, but my defense could use some work.

During that fight, there were a few attacks that I was able to react to but failed to properly block, my body couldn’t fully keep up with my senses.

While my defense and evasion were still good enough to avoid too many direct hits, I couldn’t avoid getting nicked and grazed several times, so that’s an area I’m going to need to work on.

This is good...it would’ve been tough to pick up on these weaknesses through training and sparring alone, that experience of real combat in a life or death situation is invaluable.

And I fully intend on putting it to good use.

Even if I can’t increase my stats again anytime soon, I can still polish, refine and sharpen my skills, and get stronger that way...
