Slime Leveling [Litrpg, Timeloop] Chapter 109

Chapter 109—Cruel Teaching

’Why did things become like this...’ Slime#47 wondered grimly as hot cyan lava—adult human palm wide—burned above his head. If the whole thing fell, he’d be dead.

----

Little Earlier....

Slime#47 didn’t know why everyone found Seralyth dangerous and terrifying, but now—just by hearing her words—he understood.

He was getting nervous too—just like the others.

’She’s far more dangerous than Elder Slime,’ he mused, feeling his torturous days starting. ’Elder Slime was kind to me because of Mama Slime... but, now there’s no one to protect me.’

He realized the importance of Mama Slime and the soft training method of Elder Slime.

He wanted Mama Slime now like never before.

Seralyth glanced at the white clock above the blackboard and said, "You have three minutes left. Anyone who wants to take care of personal matters can leave and return."

She grinned coldly. "But be careful. If you don’t return, you’ll have to write one million numbers in Ancient Demonic Language... and 100 times at that."

Her cold gaze swept over the students.

’The heck...’ Slime#47 cursed internally as his nervousness rose. Even he was shocked by her punishments.

He turned to his right, where a leopard demon sat.

The demon was humanoid, but his leopard face and leopard skin gave him away.

Wob!

Young Slime bounced over.

In a low voice, Slime#47 asked, "Does she give this kind of punishment every day, or is she extra strict today?"

The leopard demon glanced at the small slime beside him and replied softly, "This is too lenient. Looks like you’re a new student."

Then, in an even lower voice, he asked, "Why aren’t you wearing your uniform? Don’t you know it’s mandatory?"

Hearing that, Slime#47 glanced around the classroom. Everyone was wearing a uniform, though their coats were different colors.

He then spotted the intelligent demon with specs, wearing a long black-gold coat—the one who had questioned him before.

The demon sensed his gaze and waved his hand, nodding.

Young Slime immediately turned his gaze away.

Noticing there were still more than two minutes left, he bounced back to his seat and took out his uniform.

’It’s soft...silk.’ He rubbed the long purple coat with his tiny palm to feel its quality and texture.

The uniform shirt and trousers were too big for him, so he skipped them and only put on the coat, buttoning it to cover his entire body.

"It’s too long," he muttered.

In the next moment, the coat adjusted itself to fit him.

"Oh. It’s very handy," he grinned.

----

More than two minutes later...

"No one left," Slime#47 muttered, noticing that not a single demon had even moved an inch out of fear.

He glanced at the clock.

’It’s 9:25 in the morning.’

He wasn’t surprised by the clock. After all, even hologram computers existed in this world. A clock was nothing compared to that.

Thud! Thud!

Students started rushing in.

"Looks like class starts at 9:30," he noted.

At the end of the line, he noticed some students who spotted Seralyth and pivoted to flee.

Whoosh!

"So... where do you think you’re going?" Seralyth flashed in front of them, asking with a small grin.

"We were going to call our friends," someone replied.

"Yeah, yeah. My friend didn’t arrive," another chimed in.

Slime#47 wasn’t interested in their excuse. He turned his gaze away.

----

Students filled the class very quickly. Even those who weren’t going to come entered under Seralyth’s cold glance.

Among them was the yellow slime, who had bumped into Slime#47 earlier.

And Aurora and Tebura.

Glancing at Tebura, Slime#47 wondered, ’Is he Demon King Tebura—the one Elder Slime spoke of...? the one who used a sealed artifact-03-475 at the end of the First Great Holy War?’

He shook himself, rejecting the thought.

’It might be a coincidence.’ He lacked details to confirm beyond the name.

----

Soon, the classroom filled up completely.

Noticing the different colored coats, Slime#47 curiously asked the yellow slime who had taken the seat beside him, "Why are coats in different colors?"

"It’s to differentiate the years," the yellow slime replied in his cheerful kid voice. "Green—first year, yellow like mine—second year, gold red—third year, and finally black-gold—last year."

Young Slime nodded. "Then purple?" He pointed at himself.

"Purple is for special cases," the yellow slime replied. "It could be many reasons... By the way, I’m Haruto Evernoir. And you are?"

"I’m Nameless," Slime#47 replied, annoyed. ’Why does everyone keep reminding me I’m nameless?’ His eyes twitched with irritation.

His words turned the situation grim.

Haruto laughed and patted him, "Little guy, you sure know how to make jokes."

"I’m really Nameless," Young Slime insisted, spreading out his hands.

Haruto narrowed his eyes in disbelief, then his smile slowly returned.

"How about I take you to my grandpa? He would name you," he said with a grin. "And my grandpa is very strong...One of the strongest demons in the city. Getting a name from him would make you ridiculously strong."

He sounded prideful when he mentioned his grandpa.

"There’s no naming now."

A cold, soft female voice cut into their discussion.

They turned—and saw Seralyth’s face close to them.

Their expressions stiffened as they fell silent.

Whoosh!

The room became silent as she flashed onto the podium.

The classroom was packed with more students than it should have held.

"Now, let’s begin," she said with a grin.

She snapped her fingers.

A crimson magic rune flashed with the snap.

Hot cyan lava—about the size of an adult human palm—manifested above every student’s head.

She continued explaining, "If anyone fails to pay attention—or fails to answer my question after the session—a drop will fall on them... causing severe pain."

She grinned cruelly. "So, better pay attention."

’Who teaches like this?’ Slime#47 was utterly shocked, mouth open wide.

He felt severe heat from the burning liquid above his head. Even one drop could severely injure him.

"If that whole thing falls... I’m dead," he whispered, finally understanding why every student paled in front of her—trembling and whimpering.

"So, let’s start from the beginning..." Seralyth began her class.

"From the start, humans were the ones who lacked speaking and reading languages... while we demons were superior..."

"Humans awaken intelligence at birth, unlike us, who need to wait a few years to develop intelligence. Some talented demons awaken in one year, while average ones wait for a few years, and the untalented need ten years minimum unless they have external help."
