Chapter 30—Fire Slime
"Fireball!"Slime#47 cast the spell and hurled it at Elder Slime.
Whoosh!
The fireball streaked toward the old slime at insane speed.
"Waterball!"Elder Slime countered swiftly, a blue magic rune flashing on his tiny palm as a water sphere manifested, and dashed straight at the incoming fireball. Both spells were the same size.
Boom!—Gzz!
Both fireball and waterball cancelled each other, leaving nothing but a hissing smoke.
"I told you—raising Will is hell. With your {F-} Will, you’ll suffer a lot before it improves," Elder said, breathing hard, glancing at the young slime, who was also exhausted from mana drain.
’...that hurts...’ the young slime groaned, feeling his vision blacken.
A few moments later, he blacked out—mana dry and body fried.
"Heal!"Elder Slime cast a spell after—wob!—bouncing near the young slime. A green magic circle flared on his palm, and green rays fell on the young slime.
Some of the burns vanished first, and the rest began visibly regenerating.
Elder Slime started sweating but kept the spell going.
In less than a minute, the young slime’s body recovered completely—and Thud!—the elder slime collapsed from mana drain.

Ten days later...
Under the red moons—
"Fireball!"Elder Slime cast the magic rune and aimed the spell at the young slime.
Gzz!
Whoosh!
The fireball hit Slime#47 as he stood still. His body caught fire and burned.
Gzz!
’Burns... burns...’ he screamed in his head, holding the pain down.
After a few seconds, "Waterball!"Elder Slime cast again, a blue rune flaring to life.
Whoosh!
A small waterball fell on the young slime and calmed the flames.
"It’s eno—" Just as Slime#47 was about to stop training for the day, a notification popped up in his vision.

"Hhahah..." He laughed out loud, eyes almost tearing up. After being burned for ten days, he finally got what he wanted—
Not just Will improvement; he’d also gained a skill.

The octopus Eldritch manifested in the young slime’s mind. "Here, I will wait for your next summoning. My dear minion. Hhahah," he grinned, glancing deeply at him, and flicked his tentacle, sending a wisp of aura.
He quickly cut his mana supply, but eldritch energy kept the ritual going like before. Ritual stopped after a few moments.
"Hahaha," Eldritch had disappeared with a delighted laugh.
The octopus’s grin had sent a chill through a young slime’s core, but he was quickly occupied by the new notification.

’...So three, huh. It seems ordinary slimes can only go with big slime... And the Fist Mastery didn’t unlock anything... of course it didn’t—or it might’ve been "Fist Slime" or something...’ He thought a bit, then decided he’d go with Fire Slime—since he already had Fire Mage Class.

’Here comes the blackout... again,’ he sighed mentally, as his eyes dimmed and he fell—Thud!
He didn’t care to find a spot, as he was in the slime farm and humans won’t appear until the next day.

After a few hours, he opened his eyes as Mama Slime and Elder Slime came into view.
"Child... how are you feeling?" Mama Slime asked with concern, hugging and rubbing her soft body against his.
"I’m fine—and feeling powerful..." he declared, with a surging energy he’d never felt in his previous blue slime body. However, he wasn’t as strong as when he’d been eldritch slime.
"Of course you would... just take a look at yourself," Elder Slime laughed and pointed at the trough.
Wob!—Wob!—Mama Slime stopped hugging him as he bounced toward the trough.
’Whoa!... I look so... flashy... a better target,’ he thought, impressed by his new body—while also realizing he’d be the first to be picked as a target if spotted.
In the water, a red slime, shining like a beautiful piece of jewellery, reflected back.
’It’s not just the colour... I look like a work of art,’ he mused. If blue slimes were just cute, then this fire slime form would be high‑class decoration material.
No doubt, this body would get targeted!
"Let’s first check Status," he muttered as a shimmering panel popped up in his vision.
