Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station Chapter 72

After a moment of silence, the sterns of all the ships in the Dusk Fleet suddenly erupted with dazzling azure beams.

With the support of the fleet’s numbers, this sudden burst of light could almost rival the star of a star system.

Everyone thought Dusk was planning something big.

But in the next moment, Dusk’s fleet began accelerating normally, flying towards the Space Station.

The earlier azure light seemed just like an LED light flashing momentarily.

However, at this moment, almost no one was puzzled about why Dusk flashed their lights before taking action.

All attention was focused on the approaching Dusk Fleet.

Chen Ming moved along with Dusk and felt a surge of energy.

He had to concentrate and put all his focus into this risky behavior he had actively chosen.

After all, there’s no such thing as a high-reward, zero-risk thing in this world, even repairing the weapon systems requires his Spiritual Power.

If he doesn’t seize this risky but highly rewarding opportunity at the edge of the battle zone, he might as well go back to Rimu Star to farm.

As the Dusk Fleet gradually approached.

The area around the Space Station suddenly began to flicker with a glow similar to deep blue.

A blue, semi-transparent spherical barrier gradually unfolded around the Space Station, encasing it within.

This is what Chen Ming wanted to acquire second only to the Superspace Navigation System, the Shield Generator.

Once he has it, Chen Ming’s ship would dominate in conflicts against non-military vessels.

But unlike the widely available Superspace Navigation System, this thing is regulated in most cases.

Only large companies like Sinda could have the rights for shield use and development through various connections.

And they have the capability to protect the entire Space Station within a shield.

As the Space Station’s shield deployed.

The fleet originally stationed near the Space Station began moving away from the protection range of the shield, taking cover behind the Space Station’s rear area.

They didn’t venture out but hid behind the shield, waiting for a better combat opportunity.

After all, the greatest advantage on the Space Station’s side is the Space Station itself.

Their battle naturally needs to be coordinated with the Space Station.

Rushing out to shoot it out with Dusk’s fleet wouldn’t be the right move.

Besides, it’s Dusk coming to attack the Space Station, not the other way around.

As long as they can delay Dusk’s offensive, reinforcements from military fleets will arrive sooner or later.

On Dusk’s side, they were well aware that the pressure of attack lay on them, so they charged straight towards the Space Station without hesitation.

The moment both sides entered each other’s firing range.

The Speed Particle Spears on the three large bearing points of the Dusk Cruiser lit up simultaneously with a disturbing azure glow.

Then, three high-energy azure Particle Torrents, each lasting three seconds, spanned a quarter of the star system to strike the fully deployed shield of the Space Station.

Vibrating particle ripples spread across the shield’s surface, making the shield appear on the verge of collapse, yet remaining indestructible.

After the three Particle Torrents ceased, the Space Station also lit up with the same bright light, but it was a deep purple glow.

Two deep purple oscillating Particle Torrents crisscrossed and shot out, directly passing through the protective shield of the Space Station.

They didn’t attack the Dusk Cruiser, which was also shielded; instead, they each selected a Destroyer as their target.

The Particle Torrents instantly overloaded the shields of the hit Destroyers.

Amidst the intense arcs bursting across the hulls, two Dusk Destroyers vanished in an instant like fireworks.

The Space Station was also equipped with Speed Particle Spears, and not just one type.

Chen Ming could now see several large Solid Bullet Weapons already aimed at the Dusk Cruiser. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ NoᴠᴇFɪre.nᴇt

While Solid Bullet Weapons indeed have unbridgeable weaknesses in space combat.

Solid Bullet Weapons still hold a place in space naval warfare and continue to develop.

The reason is that the destructive nature of solids against the constraints of shields cannot be matched by Energy Weapons.

Therefore, many years ago, several different types of Solid Bullet Weapons had been developed as per Chen Ming’s recollection.

And on the Space Station, from what Chen Ming saw, there were two types of large Solid Bullet Weapons.

Storm Needle and Gauss Cannon.

The former fires a massive amount of high-speed magnetic needles, delivering sustained high-frequency impacts on multiple shield points, quickly causing shield overload.

Meanwhile, the terrifying firing rate compensates for the low hit rate of Solid Bullet Weapons in space.

And although called needles, each Storm Needle is roughly as thick as Chen Ming’s arm.

This was thirty years ago; Chen Ming is unaware of what kind of improvements these weapons have undergone.

However, the current Storm Needle being more lethal than thirty years ago is undoubtedly true.

And the Gauss Cannon and Storm Needle are almost two extremes; it fires large, high-mass solid shells made of super-heavy elemental metal.

Using continuously stacked magnetic coils, it accelerates to an extremely high degree in the simplest and most direct manner.

As long as it hits, it possesses destructive power on a level apart from most other weapons, even capable of directly shattering some low-efficiency shields rather than causing shield overload.
