Jace dropped through the metal ceiling tile. He managed to catch everyone off guard, it would seem. Which was the plan in the first place. Hoodwink flinched in surprise as Jace fell behind him. He grabbed the man by the neck and pulled his sidearm, pointing his Pyre directly in Hoodwink's ear, whose hands went up to his head for a moment before stopping.
"Spectre Jace?" Hoodwink asked as Yin and Yang both looked over in their direction. Along with Vana and Nina. Nina backed up for a moment in surprise before looking back over at the twins, probably trying to calculate a way out of this situation.
"Hey boss," Nina nodded at him after a moment.
"How did you manage to avoid being seen? I have cameras just about everywhere. Both in the facility and on this ship. It should have been impossible for you to even sneak onto the ship. Let alone move through the ship to come here without me even seeing you." Hoodwink asked in confusion.
"Sneaking through the facility was pretty easy once I momentarily knocked out the power to the entire facility. Once I was out of sight of the internal cameras I went to the roof where all the cameras were designed and focused outwards and towards the sky instead of inwards and toward the roof." Jace shrugged. "Then when the warship started coming out of the facility I jumped on the roof and then made my way through the ship avoiding the cameras causing energy surges when I needed to."
"Python, my Cthulian friend, and the other half of the assassination division. You are the one that killed him. I should have realized something was wrong. But it does not matter even if you are holding me at gunpoint. I have already started the process to take off from the planet. We will soon be in space far away from any of your allies." Hoodwink chuckled in amusement. Ecstatic at his own success in unknowingly outsmarting Jace and his two allies.
"Actually I cloned your system and then faked the responses that you were getting. We are currently hovering over the facility in a holding pattern. I also prevented the evacuation code from going out when you tried to send it to the planet. I told you back in the Leonair Kingdom that I would kill you the next time I saw you." Jace grinned madly under his helmet.
"No! We have one of your-" Yin began yelling in panic. Realizing the situation they were in had become dire for them. Attempting to bargain with Jace.
"Do not bother." Hoodwink interrupted her while sighing. "I have seen Spectre Jace Steel's full jacket. I had to send people to go and talk to people on the ground. I do not just mean the various redacted versions of the reports. So at the same time I managed to get my hands on the one that detailed everything Jace has ever done since joining the military. I must say, even after knowing that you might kill me I became quite a fan of your work. You are ruthless."
"But father, we can still help you! We can still save you!" Yang yelled in a panic.
"No you cannot." Hoodwink sighed. "When Jace was four years old he killed his first person. In response the orphanage he was located at moved him to an orphanage in the slums. Then when he was seven he killed a child rapist who broke into the orphanage, the child rapist had killed another kid and was about to rape one of the children when Jace smashed his head in." Hoodwink began reciting Jace's history.
"Oh wow, but that stuff is not that difficult to find." Jace chuckled as he prepared to fire his Pyre. But he was still waiting for an opportunity. It would seem Hoodwink explaining Jace's past might give him that opportunity. It would seem both Vana and Nina were in agreement while only Yin had picked up on what was going on. While Yang was clearly panicking.
"That other surviving child ended up in the same mysterious unit that the Spectres are a part of. Then when he was eleven he killed his first person in cold blood. It was a gang leader that was going to use the orphanage as a brothel. Apparently he beat the man to death with a bat, the other gangsters were so impressed they decided to leave the orphanage alone." Hoodwink continued.
While Nina looked over at him in surprise. The twins on the other hand were confused. Jace just shrugged in response.
"Then until he left for the military academy he tortured and sometimes killed the people that gangs brought to him. He got so good at it that the gangsters were terrified of him. To this day they still have a truce to leave the orphanage alone because he terrifies them and they think he might return one day." Hoodwink explained. "Spectre Jace is not your typical person. He is a machine that will complete his objective regardless of personal cost. This includes his own allies."
"Hey you! Spectre Jace drop your gun or-" Yin began but was interrupted by Hoodwink.
"Girls, just run! Please! There is no point! Just run as far as you can!" Hoodwink yelled as loud as he could. That was the moment he was waiting for, when they were panicking at the peak of despair.
Jace fired three times point blank against Hoodwink's head. The result was a bloody explosion of flesh, bones, blood, and brains. The body went limp in the wheelchair. There was a moment of silence in response.
Then Yang screamed, "No!" She moved towards the glass barrier and the shield surrounding it.
At the same time Vana elbowed Yin and rolled away from her. Nina dashed towards Yang. "Yang!" Yin called out as she moved towards Yang as well. She managed to push Yang out of the way just as Nina slashed her knife.
Nina managed to cut right at Yin's arm. Cutting it off at the shoulder. She screamed in pain but before Nina could follow up she was kicked by Yang who had recovered. Then Yang picked up her sister and ran out of the room. Leaving a dent in the doorway as she ran so quickly.
