The middle-aged man casted her a look and said, “Xu Jiao, didn’t you say yesterday that the purse that you’ve just bought was defected? Didn’t you also trip and fall yesterday when you went for a jog and even scraped your knee?
“Aye, you should go see a doctor. What if your Achilles tendon was injured even though you didn’t fracture any bones? Does it hurt when you walk?”
Xu Jiao’s lips were about to turn pale!
She did feel that she had been very misfortunate as of late, but she didn’t think too much about it.

She… she had been bringing him coffee every day!
“Then… then should I still go inside of his office?”

Her knee that was bumped when she fell felt particularly painful all of a sudden.
“Aye, that is part of your job. What do you think? Besides, haven’t you noticed that the pay is very high here? Do you think an assistant at another company make half of what we make here?”
The middle-aged man tsked.
“I didn’t have a choice because I have a family to feed.”
Juan-jie, next to them, also nodded. “My son needs to buy a place so he can find himself a wife.”
“My daughter needs to study abroad. Tuition costs an arm and a leg.”
“I want to buy my own place and I need down payment.”
Everybody started sharing.
Xu Jiao was dumbfounded. “Then why didn’t they clarify this during the interview?”
“You are still in your probation period. You can leave any time you want. It’s not like Human Resource can go around telling people that the boss is a walking curse during the interviews.”
Now Xu Jiao had turned pale completely.
While she was panicking, the phone on her desk rang.
Siyi’s voice came over quickly. “Bring over the materials that you have just printed out.”
Xu Jiao bounced straight up from her seat, then sat right back down!
Weak!
Her knees were getting weak!
Curse… could cause death… so superstitious. She didn’t want to believe it.
But everybody else was so serious when they said it. Plus, nobody would say such awful things about another person just to spread rumors, so for sure the boss of Human Resource was diagnosed with cancer.
Xu Jiao couldn’t even get up on her feet.
Huo Sishen narrowed his eyes and looked at the woman who was pale like paper through the glass window.
His lips shut tightly with a hint of sarcasm.
His dark eyes were cold like ice.
Sure enough.
It didn’t matter who it was. As soon as they have heard about him and his past, they could be scared off within a second.
No matter how much they had fawned over him in the past, they’d want to stay at least 10 meters away from him afterward.
He shut his eyes.
The girl’s voice entered his head.
She said she wasn’t scared. That she was scared of nothing.
Huo Sishen opened up his eyes and a sense of warmth appeared in his eyes.
“Let’s go.”
Siyi picked up the print outs and followed behind Huo Sishen.When they’ve arrived home, sure enough they saw Gu Shishi preparing dinner in her newly purchased girly apron.
The pink polka dots on the apron made her look particularly soft.
“Dinner tonight is hearty seafood soup with baked lobster and rice.”
Gu Shishi never knew before that she could make such classy dishes.
Gu Shishi had already pitter pattered over when Huo Sishen had just arrived at the door, eager to gloat about her accomplishment.
Siyi could sensed that the boss’s tall and strong body was softening up.
“Mmm.”
Event his sound of acknowledgement that he made has a hint of tenderness that wasn’t there normally.
Siyi was amazed.
“Go wash your hands then~”
Gu Shishi happily bounced back into the kitchen.
Looking at her back, her pony tail swaying from side to side behind her slender body, looking like butterfly wings.
His lips started to curve upward.
Even his steps had lightened up.
When was the last time someone greeted him at the door?
It had been so long that his memories had already faded.
And now, there was just her.
He was in such a good mood that even what would have normally disgusted him looked less so right now.
