Gu Shishi’s words made Luo Pingting gritted her teeth from anger.
Huo Sishen, on the other hand, lifted his brows.
His eyes that was cold just a moment ago bounced a couple of times.
He turned his head and in his sight was a chattering girl.
What she was saying was so nonsensical but, somehow, they were able to soften his heart. As though brushed by a feather of short, there was a light and ticklish feeling…
Her little face glowed like a jade. The period clothing that he had no idea where she got from made her looked soft and shapely.
As she talked, there were stars sparkling in her eyes.
Huo Sishen felt a tightening sensation in his throat and he quickly looked away.
But his ears were perked. He wanted to see what other crazy but cute words would come from her. They were melodious like chirping of a bird.
Suddenly, a nice fragrant approached him.
“C’mon, darling. Let’s head home.”
A strand of her hair was right next to his face.
Huo Sishen stiffened up.
Darling?
He turned and saw her fair skin immediately next to him.
Her almond eyes were smiling. Her lips were red and her teeth white.
Huo Sishen felt his palms warming up.
“Speak properly!”
Did she need to stand so close to him?
Wasn’t she talking to Luo Pingting?!
“Miss Luo had taken off already. She didn’t want to spread her bad luck to the others here.”
Gu Shishi tugged at the man’s sleeve as she spoke.
It was the Luo’s who were going through a string of bad luck!
Such is karma!
“I am here by myself. The chauffeur has left already. I don’t know how to get home from here.
“Take me home. Will you?”
Huo Sishen narrowed his eyes.
Where did that Chen’s girl go?
Gu Shishi sighed slowly. “She had somewhere to be.”
Huo Sishen’s chin tightened. He was just about to say he’d have Siyi take her home when he saw the disappointment on the girl’s face.
Was she unhappy because Miss Chen ditched her half way through lunch?
She had nobody to eat with again?
His chest tightened all of a sudden and there was an added sense of achy feeling.
He had been through darkness and loneliness and she shouldn’t need to experience what he had gone through.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Huo Sishen stood up.
He looked up and saw the bright smile on the girl.
Gu Shishi bounced up all of a sudden. “Okay, okay!”
Huo Sishen found it difficult to tell her that he needed to work in the office and have her eat alone at home.
Some swamps, once one had fallen inside of it, would be impossible to struggle free.
The more one tried to struggle… the deeper they’d be stuck.
“Oh, oh, Mr. Huo. Look! I won on this bet on this ball game!
“I am so lucky!”
Gu Shishi messed around on her cellphone as soon as she had gotten inside of the car.
She was so happy she could reach the sky.
“I just randomly placed a bet and had no idea about either team. I’m sure your luck in wealth had spread to me.”
Huo Sishen, sitting in the backseat, looked over at her phone for a change.
His lips curved and warm like spring.
Surely, he had always been very lucky when it came to money matters.
He had barely ever lost any money in the last few years.
Siyi, in the front of the car, also sensed the warm sensation inside the cabin and couldn’t help but turned and look with admiration.
This Miss Gu was certainly mighty.
She had asked him two days ago how to place bet on cellphones.
Then she bought two cellphone accounts and placed bets on both teams.
Just in case there would be a tie, she bid on five games in a row.
Even if one was so unlucky that water would be stuck between their teeth when they drink, there would be no chance of five games in a row ending in ties.
He had no idea what she was trying to do before.
So she did all those… for today!
All those to appease the boss!
Even Siyi was starting to feel envious of the man sitting in the back.
Siyi, too, wants to have a girlfriend now!
