Ye Shaoyang nodded and believed what Teng Yongqing said was true . Afterall, Teng Zhongyun was a sorcerer himself . He would not choose to be with a demon with a dark path of cultivation, at least for the sake of his own safety .
Teng Yongqing continued, “The truth is that the couple had been together for a few years before a wandering sorcerer showed up . The sorcerer found out about the true identity of Madam Chee, so he tried to capture her, and they fought . ”

Ye Shaoyang curiously asked, “I thought you guys were from Xi Chuan . How do you know about the Legend of the White Snake?”
“I saw it on TV,” Tan Xiaohui answered before she turned to Teng Yongqing . “Please, go on with your story . What happened next?”
“The sorcerer was no match for Madam Chee . Madam Chee spared his life, but he did not appreciate it . He spread the truth about Madam Chee’s identity to the public, and as a result, the villagers gathered outside of Teng Zhongyun’s house and demanded that he chase the demon away . Madam Chee was hurt in the battle against the sorcerer, so the beast in her took over her, and she killed some villagers .
“Teng Zhongyun went to the mountain again, and of course, he found Madam Chee . I don’t know what happened in between, but Madam Chee agreed to sacrifice herself . She let Teng Zhongyun capture her so that he could regain the villagers’ trust . She even willingly surrendered her demon blood, so Teng Zhongyun could imprison her . He built a temple guarded by a Formation of Five Elements and threw her inside it . ”
Upon hearing this, Ye Shaoyang nodded . Now he understood the history of Madam Chee’s temple . It matched his speculation, but he did not expect the story to be such a romantic yet disastrous one .
Tan Xiaohui sighed, “She was a real loving wife . What happened next? How did she get herself onto the dark path?”
Teng Yongqing continued, “After she was locked up in the temple, Teng Zhongyun often visited her . He even convinced the villagers to worship her and burn incense for her . Obviously, they could not be together anymore, but Madam Chee excepted this arrangement out of love . Afterall, one was a human and one was a demon, it was an impossible relationship . However, as time went by, Teng Zhongyun’s visits became less frequent, and his attitude changed . Soon, he stopped visiting .
“Madam Chee could not get out of the temple, so she became anxious waiting for him . One day, she caught someone in the temple and asked about Teng Zhongyun’s whereabouts . She was devastated when she learned that Teng Zhongyun had married another woman, a mayor’s daughter . ”
“Damn it!” Wang Ting angrily yelled, “All men are bad! They are all cheaters and should all be killed!”
“Ahem,” Ye Shaoyang stared at her, “Little sister, I agree if you say Teng Zhongyun was unfaithful, but to say all men are bad, is--”
Wang Ting made a face, “I was not talking about you!”
Damn, what is she talking about? Am I not a man? Ye Shaoyang was speechless .
“Don’t split hairs,” Tan Xiaohui glared at the both of them . She then asked Teng Yongqing, “I guess Madam Chee started going berserk then?”
Teng Yongqing nodded, “Madam Chee went on a killing spree, but before long, nobody dared to step into her temple anymore . She was bound by the formation as well, so she could not come out of the temple . Hateful Qi built up in her until one day she met the Spirit Commissioner, but what happened between her and the Spirit Commissioner is anybody’s guess . ”
Ye Shaoyang speculated that Madam Chee must have seduced the Spirit Commissioner into working for her . Otherwise, the Spirit Commissioner would not have gone against the law and served as her servant . However, Ye Shaoyang was not too keen on the details . Afterall, the Spirit Commissioner was now gone, so it would not help to know the story .
“Then, the Spirit Commissioner talked Madam Chee into taking the dark path of cultivation . The Spirit Commissioner first killed some villagers to create fear among them . Then, Madam Chee pretended to defeat it and gained trust among the villagers . Thus, she could easily manipulate the villagers into sacrificing a pair of twin infants for her cultivation . Ye Shaoyang nodded . He could understand her hatred towards him . There were many ways to exact revenge on a person, but a demon or a spirit’s way was usually much simpler . They would kill the person, and then his direct descendants, or even the whole clan . Once there was no one else to kill, their resentment would be projected onto society .
Ye Shaoyang took a glance at Teng Yongqing, “There’s something you left out . Why did you say you are Madam Chee’s descendant?”
Teng Yongqing answered, “While Madam Chee was with Teng Zhongyun, she gave birth to a child . ”

Wang Ting sneered, “Well since you follow Buddha’s teaching, you should not give in to any form of lust . Otherwise, you are not sincere!”
Teng Yongqing simply gave her a smile without arguing with her . He continued with his story, “Teng Zhongyun was right in making this decision as his son had demon blood in him . Madam Chee could sense his existence within a radius of a hundred Li . She could even remotely activate the demon blood in him and turn him into a demon . The only way to suppress the demon blood is through sorcery .
