Seeing Luo Xiuyi’s insistence, Luo Shu did not push the box back and instead opened it to examine the jade pendant.
The jade pendant was translucent and emerald green, clearly carved from a superior quality jade. On the front was a phoenix with outstretched wings ready to take flight, and on the back was the character ’Song’ written in seal script.
Luo Shu looked up at Luo Xiuyi, "Mother couldn’t have been a child from an ordinary family, right?" Such a jade pendant couldn’t be afforded by an ordinary family.
Luo Xiuyi nodded slightly, his slender fingers lightly caressing the patterns on the outer wall of the teacup, a hint of coldness in his eyes, "She was a member of the Song Family."
"The Song Family?" Luo Shu asked in surprise.
"Mmm!" Luo Xiuyi nodded.
Luo Shu frowned slightly, not expecting to have such a connection with the Song Family, "Then why was she sent to Luo Family Village?" With the status of the Song Family, even during those years, they shouldn’t have been unable to protect their own family members, right?
"Out of jealousy, your mother had a twin sister named Song Yuyan, who was in love with a man that fell for your mother. So, Song Yuyan schemed to drive your mother away from the Song Family. To make the Song Family give up on your mother, Song Yuyan bribed the steward’s son, claiming your mother was involved with him and even produced ’evidence’."
Luo Xiuyi said with a mocking smile, "The Song Family, for the sake of their reputation, sent your mother to live in the countryside as an aid recipient and announced to the public that she had died of illness." When he found out about this from Yushuang, he secretly launched an offensive against the Song Family, only to discover that they were backed by a formidable force, one he couldn’t shake, and he almost implicated the Divine Doctor Family.
"The Song Family is really despicable!" Luo Shu sneered.
"The Song Family is not as simple as it seems on the surface. It’s backed by a powerful, mysterious force," warned Luo Xiuyi. He didn’t want Shushu to confront the Song Family, as her current strength was no match for them.
"Don’t worry! I am aware of it," Luo Shu said with a smile. What she had to do now was to build her own and her family’s strength. As for the Song Family, there would be a day when she would seek justice for her mother, for herself, and for Hanmo.
After a reluctant farewell to her family, Luo Shu boarded the plane headed to Cloud City.
Looking at the clouds rushing by outside the window, Luo Shu’s mouth curved into a slight smile. Her current mood was completely different from when she had arrived; her family, whom she once thought she would never reunite with, had once again become her family. The feeling was surreal, like a dream. Though her status had changed, as long as she remained a member of the Divine Doctor Family, she was satisfied.
Closing her eyes, Luo Shu unconsciously drifted into the land of dreams.
When she awoke again, the plane had already landed at Cloud City, on the landing pad of the Divine Doctor Family office.
Glancing out the window, Luo Shu smiled slightly, stood up, and walked off the plane.
"Miss!" Seeing Luo Shu disembark, the people bowed respectfully to her. They had all received the notification and were aware of her identity.
Luo Shu nodded slightly. In her previous life, she was already accustomed to such scenes.
"Miss, the car is ready for you. This way, please," said Yang Zhengshen with a smile, gesturing for Luo Shu to follow him. As the person in charge of the area and with Luo Shu residing in Cloud City, they would inevitably interact in the future.
Yang Zhengshen led Luo Shu to the parked car and opened the door, "Miss, please get inside!"
"Thank you!" Luo Shu smiled slightly and bent down to get into the car.
"No need to thank me, Miss! Here’s my phone number. Feel free to call me anytime if you need anything," said Yang Zhengshen, handing Luo Shu a piece of paper with his phone number from his pocket.
Luo Shu nodded, accepting the paper.
"Take care, Miss!" Yang Zhengshen waved with a smile as he watched the car drive off into the distance.
"Take me to the estate downtown," Luo Shu told the driver. She wanted to visit her godmother, whom she hadn’t seen for some days and missed, and also intended to give her the gifts she had brought back.
"Yes," the driver replied with a nod.
As the car sped along, Luo Shu watched the rapidly passing scenery and the increasingly remote roads. A flicker of coldness crossed her eyes, "Where are you taking me?"
"You’ll find out when we get there," the driver said flatly.
Luo Shu let out a cold laugh and turned her gaze back to the window. She was curious to see who had the audacity to manipulate someone from the Divine Doctor Family.
The car drove on, exiting the bounds of Cloud City after more than four hours, and finally pulled up to a luxurious manor.
The driver got out, walked over, and opened the back door of the car, "Please get out."
Stepping out of the car, Luo Shu surveyed the manor before her, her lips curving into a smirk tinged with disdain in her eyes.
