All eyes were on Luo Shu as they awaited her response.
Luo Shu smiled and shook her head, "My father only asked me to take Hanmo for him to see." Given Hanmo’s excellence, she was confident that her father and the family would absolutely not oppose their being together.
"Oh!" Zhu Huizhen nodded in relief. As long as there was no opposition, that was all that mattered. She did not want to see her son unhappy because of love in the future. She knew her son’s character the best; once he made up his mind, he would definitely not change it.
"No wonder your medical skills are so good, you come from the Divine Doctor Family," Ye Shanshan realized. She had witnessed Luo Qianyu’s medical skills before.
Luo Shu smiled but did not explain. Actually, she and Hanmo had already agreed on what to say, but it was better for them to think this way.
At this moment, a series of footsteps could be heard from outside. Then, about a dozen young men and women walked in, all with quite extraordinary appearances.
They were brothers and sisters from the same Lu family as Lu Hanmo, of the direct lineage. Usually, everyone was busy with their studies or careers, only gathering during the New Year.
Hearing that Lu Hanmo was bringing someone home today, they all hurriedly came to the old house.
After greeting the elders seated, everyone turned their curious eyes to Luo Shu. Many of them had heard of Luo Shu and seen news about her.
"They are Hanmo’s brothers and sisters. You are all young, go and talk with them," Zhu Huizhen patted Luo Shu’s hand and stood up with a smile, leaving the space for them. She hoped Luo Shu would integrate into the Lu family quickly.
"Hello, cousin-in-law! I’m Lu Hanyun, I’ve seen you on TV," Lu Hanyun came forward with a smile and extended his hand to Luo Shu.
"Hello!" Luo Shu smiled and shook hands with Lu Hanyun. She had already sized up the others; all these people were well-mannered, indicating that the Lu family’s upbringing was very decent.
"I saw on the news, you solved the poisoning crisis in Cloud City, you are really amazing! Can you guide me sometime? I am studying medicine too," Lu Hanyun looked at Luo Shu with admiration. His father originally wanted him to go into politics, but he preferred to cure and save people, as it gave him a great sense of achievement.
"Of course, I can," Luo Shu said with a smile.
"Cousin-in-law, you developed Snow Skin Cream, right? You are amazing!" Lu Zixun said, beaming while batting her bright eyes at Luo Shu.
"Cousin-in-law, I am Lu Ziyan. The moment I saw you, I liked you a lot."
"I heard little sister-in-law’s kung fu is very impressive, even Mo Shaoze is no match for you. Can we spar sometime?"
Feeling the goodwill from everyone, Luo Shu also started chatting with them, and soon she was getting along well with the group. As they were all young, there was naturally a lot of common ground to talk about.
Seeing everyone so happily engaged, Old Master Lu’s face was filled with a pleased smile. Although every family inevitably endures its internal struggles for interests, compared to others, the Lu family was much better. The Lu family had always valued kinship, and thus had remained united. And because of their unity, it was challenging for those with ulterior motives to find an opportunity to cause division.
The more everyone talked, the more spirited they became, and their fondness for Luo Shu rapidly grew.
It seemed there was nothing Luo Shu did not know; she could answer any question they posed. Even for relatively niche topics like geography or military matters, she was able to effortlessly respond.
This left those who had intended to trouble Luo Shu with difficult questions feeling utterly frustrated.
It was not until the butler came to call everyone for dinner that the conversation reluctantly wound down.
Lu Hanmo stepped forward, extracted Luo Shu from the crowd, and swept a disapproving glance over everyone, "Go eat your meal!"
No one dared hesitate; they all quickly dispersed. In the Lu family, there were only two people they truly feared: one was their grandfather, and the other was Lu Hanmo. They both possessed an innate authority that made it impossible for anyone to even think of resisting.
Upon seeing everyone’s reaction, Luo Shu could not help but laugh and give Lu Hanmo a thumbs-up, "Impressive!"
"I really can’t do anything with you!" Lu Hanmo said helplessly but with a doting tone as he ruffled Luo Shu’s hair and took her hand, leading her toward the dining room.
After the meal, everyone still wanted to chat with Luo Shu, but they were scared off by Lu Hanmo’s look.
"Luo Shu, auntie has arranged a room for you. Let auntie show you," Zhu Huizhen said with a smiling approach, taking Luo Shu’s hand.
"Okay, auntie!" Luo Shu smiled and followed Zhu Huizhen upstairs.
Watching Luo Shu disappear at the top of the stairs, Lu Hanmo shook his head helplessly. It had been hard enough to chase away a crowd who wanted to steal his bride; now, there was another one. Since returning home, he had not even had a proper conversation with Shushu.
Zhu Huizhen led Luo Shu to the second floor, pointing to the third room on the right side of the hallway, "Shushu, this is Hanmo’s room, and your room is that one." She intentionally arranged Luo Shu’s room next to Hanmo’s, hoping that something might develop between the two; she would be happy to see it. Son, I can only help you this much, the rest is up to you. Don’t let me down!
The room was predominantly pink, giving it a sweet feel. The furnishings in the room were thoughtfully designed, whether it was the vanity, bed, or couch, they all exuded a distinct girlish charm.
"If you don’t style, auntie can have someone change it for you," Zhu Huizhen said. From the moment she knew Hanmo was bringing Luo Shu back to the Lu family, she specially selected new furniture and had the room redecorated. She thought Luo Shu would pinkish hue, but after spending time with Luo Shu, she felt she might have been mistaken.
"Auntie, this is very nice, I really like it, thank you!" Luo Shu smiled looking at Zhu Huizhen, feeling touched. She could tell that a lot of thought had been put into this room.
"Thank me for what? I’m glad you like it!" Zhu Huizhen waved her hand dismissively while smiling. She did not let Luo Shu’s background influence her treatment of her. Her kindness to Luo Shu was because she was the one her son liked. Nevertheless, she truly liked Luo Shu as well.
