I’m writing this single Chapter mainly to ask for everyone’s forgiveness.
I know the plot is at a critical stage, and this part of the story has been covered in "Mercenary." Some Chapters could have been copied directly into this book. Logically, this should have been a faster and simpler write, which means updates should have been more frequent.
So I am asking for your forgiveness because I can’t add more Chapters right now, I’m on a road trip and really can’t write.
I wanted to visit XJ. I’ve wanted to see the snow on the Tianshan Mountains and the waters of Kanas Lake for a very, very long time. I had always planned to take a trip there but unfortunately never had the time or the opportunity.
Right after the New Year, I told my dad that the whole family should go on a trip to XJ. People say July is the best time, so I fixed it for July, and then started planning. I had planned to leave on July 1st, but because this book had reached a critical point in the plot, I kept postponing the plan.
I didn’t dare go out to have fun without having a stockpile of written Chapters, but I really couldn’t manage to write them. I’m helpless too.
So the family road trip plan had to be cancelled, really cancelled.
To be honest, I know I’m lazy. Blame me for failure to write enough Chapters in advance, but I really decided not to go in order to focus on writing the book.
However, on the 23rd, when I told my dad and mom that maybe we should not go this year and wait until next year instead,
my dad said it was fine not to go and work should come first.
My mom was okay with it; she wasn’t particularly interested in XJ. But seeing my dad trying to hide his disappointment, I suddenly felt so sad.
My dad and my mom both turned sixty this year, and it was at that moment that I realized they were starting to get old.
"The trees wish to stay still but the wind keeps blowing; the children wish to take care of their parents but their parents may not be there." I often recite this saying, but when it comes to the crunch, how come I can’t remember it?
I’m someone who acts on impulse, and so I immediately set our itinerary and we set off the next day, which was the 24th.
So today I’m already on the road, and I’ve passed Bayannur City.
It’s three o’clock in the morning now, I’m very tired and sleepy, and my writing is as chaotic as my thoughts, but as long as you can understand what I mean, that’s enough.
In short, I failed to add Chapters during a critical phase when I should have, and I feel I’ve let everyone down. That’s why I’m publishing this single Chapter to explain and, by the way, to ask for forgiveness.
It may not mean much, but I think it’s better to say something. Well, that’s all.
