This was insane, even by Drake’s standards. It felt almost like suicide—going up against a beast that even a cohort of S-ranked, SS-ranked, and SSS-ranked awakened had struggled to keep up with.

The fiery blue eyes of the beast gnawed at him. It could clearly see through him—the threat he posed—and how weak he was compared to the other awakened it had faced earlier.
The Ice Banshee did not hesitate to take the opening, lunging forward at a speed too fast for Drake to react to—or even see.
It reached him, and with its blade-like claws, it thrust its hand into Drake’s gut, piercing through easily.
The attack let out a sickening sound, followed by Drake’s loud scream as agony shot through his body, jolting him violently.
It was an attack sure enough to kill him if nothing was done fast.
The Ice Banshee let out a low gurgling sound that resembled laughter—it was clear the beast was mocking him.
Drake let out a chuckle of his own, grabbing onto the Banshee’s hand still lodged in his gut, causing a slow downpour of blood to the ground.
"How dare you mock me, beast," he snarled, increasing his grip around the Banshee with all his strength.
It wasn’t a grip strong enough to destroy the Banshee’s arm, but it was strong enough to hold it in place.
And for what reason came next.
A dark red glow emanated from the side of the two—it was faint at first, then grew brighter, warmer... perhaps even alive. But to the Banshee, that feeling was unmistakable.
It was a sensation she had come to know all too well—and she began to quiver, turning her gaze toward the source of the light.
This was the first time Drake had ever seen true fear in the eyes of a monster. The Ice Banshee, in sight of Kyvern, who had its mouth open and gurgling with turbulent flames, became erratic.
The all-powerful boss monster began to shriek—shaking violently in a desperate attempt to escape.
But it was already too late for that.
Drake had planned this all along, and according to his plan, he held the Ice Banshee in place as Kyvern prepared its final attack.
With a devilish grin, he finally spoke, "Burn her."
With those words leaving Drake’s lips, Kyvern blasted out its powerful attack at the Ice Banshee.
