Chapter 99: We’ve struck it Rich.
While within the flames, Su Ping, who sensed Mel and Sal in danger, gave up on keeping them alive and sucked out every last drop of power he could from them. He didn’t have the time to keep the dark spheres stable so the flames had burned through them before killing the three demoness’s who were already approaching deaths door, due to their battle with Su Ping.
Rugard felt a stinging pain in his heart, he winced with a smile, watching the woman he had just tried to save, laying in another’s embrace.
The frightened villagers on the other hand, finally recovered some mental control over themselves and scampered to their feet to flee.
" The demon is still alive!"
" We’re all going to die!"
" Run for your lives!"
" Get out of my way! I’m too young to die here!" A young girl shoved an old man to the ground before running over his frail body. Their cries of fear and panic filling the air.
Rugard glanced at all of them with a cold gaze, his magical power trembled subtly as if he was pondering whether to kill these shameless bastards or not.
He suddenly blinked in surprise when the fleeing villagers were all enveloped by one large Dark sphere.
" Hahaha, we’ve really struck it rich." Jack suddenly leaped off a building, landing next to Rugard. The both of them watched as the gargantuan dark sphere rapidly shrunk until it was a small large dark sphere.
Rugard couldn’t help but pity the villagers still trapped inside, The dark sphere had shrunk considerably but was still sizable enough for one to conclude that the villagers were very much alive which meant.

" Hey, get your head on straight! The demon is still alive, which means, we still have a job to do." Jack slapped Rugard on the back. At the same time he released his magical power that caused the atmosphere to turn tense.
" Level 3?" Su Pings expression turned intrigued but when he felt the subtle movement from Melinda beside him, his expression turned curious.
" Do you know them sweetie?" Su Ping asked. Melinda faced her husband and nodded.
" They’re... I mean, he’s a friend of mine." Melinda said before turning to glance at Jack and the guy she once thought she knew. Su Ping on the other hand glanced silently at Rugard. Feeling Su Ping’s sudden focused gaze, Rugard couldn’t help but feel an unsettling feeling whelming up within him.
" Sir Rugard, whatever your trying to do, I’m begging you not to, please. My husband isn’t evil, he has no intentions of harming anyone."
" This isn’t some form of misunderstanding, so it really is your husband." Rugard stared at her with surprise, he had a feeling their connection was not right but, to think that she actually thought of the demon as her husband.
" Don’t tell me they’re also." He glanced at Mel and Sal who were lying soundly in their fathers arms, Rugard had trouble believing what he was hearing.
" You expect us to believe there’s such a thing as a kind demon?" Jack laughed hard before gesturing at the dark sphere. " He’s already captured an entire village, I’d say we’re doing the kingdom a meritorious service by eliminating him."
" Jack... What are you saying." Rugard suddenly glanced at Jack who’s expression soured as he glanced back at his partner.
" Don’t you dare tell me that you suddenly don’t want to kill him anymore because of that woman... Rugard, don’t forget what we’re after."
" It’s aura is only that of a level two, this shouldn’t take much time to finish. Even if he’s a demon, I doubt he could take the both of us on if we worked together." Jack gnashed his teeth, he felt that this partner of his was more frustrating than usual today.
" We almost left because we thought there was nothing left to salvage, yet now that we learn it’s still alive, you want us to leave?!"
" If you want to stay so much, I believe I can arrange that." Both Rugard and Jack’s pupils dilated when Su Ping emerged half a meter next to them, his body brimming with dark flame’s.
" When did he?!" Jack was startled, his heart skipping a beat as Su Ping’s figure enlarged rapidly as he reached them in an instant.
" Summoning spell: wall of bones!" Rugard, unlike his partner, was quick to react, casting a defensive spell. A wall composed of countless bones, rose out of the ground in an instant.
The wall of bones was shattered in a split second, sending several bones flying but, the brief hindrance gave Jack and Rugard enough time to widen the distance between them and Su Ping.
Rugard and Jack were suddenly struck with two skills of Su Ping, The chains from the dark spheres where attached to Su Ping, allowing him to use touch of darkness to absorb their mana.
Unfortunately, the Dark spheres were shattered the next moment, allowing Jack and Rugard to escape, this time they created even more distance between them and Su Ping, their eyes filled with disbelief.
Jack had a summoned wandering wraith at his side which he had used to escape the dark sphere, Rugard himself had escaped the imprisonment as well, through his own means.
Right now the both of them realized that the demon Infront of them was far more threatening than they had realized, if they had stayed inside those dark spheres for a moment longer, they would’ve lost a substantial amount of their mana.
" Jack, why don’t we cut our loses here. I don’t think it’s worth it to go this far to capture one demon." Rugard didn’t want to admit it, but although he could sense Su Ping’s level 2 aura, he realized that the demon Infront of them would definitely be troublesome to defeat in a short amount of time.
