Dantooine – The Ancient Jedi Ruins

.

The wind rolled gently across the Dantooine plains as we stood at the threshold of the ruined Jedi Temple. The echoes of the past were thick in the air, an undeniable presence lingering beneath the centuries of overgrowth and decay. Moss crept up the stone pillars, vines twisted around long-forgotten entrances, and the grand hallways where Jedi once walked were now cracked and filled with debris.

But despite the ruin, there was potential.

Tempra had set up a temporary command center near the ship, coordinating repairs to the Hope, but her technical teams had already reported that it would take weeks before the ship was fully operational again. That left us stranded, but it also gave us time—time to turn this place into something new.

I turned to Kassy, who was crouched near an old, half-buried stone.

"It’s still here." She ran a gloved hand over the faded carvings, barely visible through the layers of dust and time. "This was one of the original training halls. The Order left so long ago, but the energy... it’s still present."

I closed my eyes for a moment, reaching out with the Force. She was right. The walls still held faint imprints of the past, echoes of voices long gone. This place had once been a sanctuary for the Jedi, a stronghold of knowledge and training.

And now, it would be again.

The first step was clearing the grand entrance hall. The large doors were still partially intact, albeit buried beneath a collapsed archway. With combined effort—both physical and through the Force—Kassy and I worked to remove the fallen debris. The dust filled the air, catching the golden sunlight streaming through the cracks above.

Tempra’s engineers brought in salvaged equipment from the Hope, setting up temporary power generators to restore basic lighting in the larger chambers. The main hall, once shrouded in darkness, flickered to life with a dim, golden glow. Ancient carvings along the walls were revealed, depicting the early Jedi Knights, their battle stances frozen in time.

Kassy ran her fingers over one of the engravings. "This place was once alive. I wonder what it would have been like to train here."

I exhaled. "It’s up to us to make it a sanctuary again."

Once the entrance was cleared, we moved inward, assessing the most structurally stable rooms. Many were beyond repair, their ceilings having caved in long ago, but there were enough areas still intact to begin restoring a functional base.

The Main Hall: Converted into a strategic meeting area, with holo-tables salvaged from the Hope.

The Training Chambers: Cleared of debris, with makeshift sparring rings set up for practice. The energy of past Jedi duels still lingered in the air.

The Dormitory Wing: Originally meant for Jedi initiates, now repurposed into a temporary living space for the crew and soldiers who would soon arrive.

The Archives: Perhaps the most exciting discovery—ancient Jedi texts, some still legible. Some might hold valuable information about the Order’s past, maybe even lost techniques or knowledge.

By the end of the second day, the temple was slowly coming back to life. It was no longer just a ruin; it was a place of purpose again.

As night settled over Dantooine, I took a moment to walk alone through the temple. The stillness was different from the eerie silence of Ziost. Here, the quiet wasn’t oppressive. It was peaceful.

And then, in the depths of the ruins, I felt it.

A pulse in the Force. Something beneath the temple.

I placed a hand against the cold stone, closing my eyes. The sensation was faint, but unmistakable. There was something hidden below.

Kassy’s voice broke my concentration. "You feel it too, don’t you?"

I turned. She stood behind me, arms crossed, her sabers clipped to her belt. "Yeah. Something’s down there."

Her expression hardened. "Do we investigate now?"

I hesitated. Part of me wanted to—but we weren’t ready. Not yet. "Not until we have reinforcements. We have enough to deal with for now."

She nodded, but the tension didn’t leave her stance. She felt the same thing I did—a presence waiting below, something that had been untouched for centuries.

And whatever it was, we would face it soon enough.

The next morning, as we worked on stabilizing the north corridor, the comm system crackled to life.

A familiar voice came through, laced with amusement.

"This is Major Ikarus aboard the Faith. Hope you didn’t get too comfortable. The cavalry has arrived."

I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.

They made it.

But even as relief washed over me, I knew it wasn’t over.

The Faith was here. Reinforcements were coming.

And soon, we would uncover whatever was waiting beneath Dantooine’s ancient ruins.
