When Feng Zheng heard He Zhilan was heading back with Gu En, his smile froze on his face. Yet, he still eagerly escorted He Zhilan to the dorm door before reluctantly waving goodbye to her.
As soon as Feng Zheng mentioned he was going to walk He Zhilan home, He Teng gave him a mysterious look. He didn’t take his eyes off him until Feng Zheng had seen He Zhilan back to her dorm, oblivious to He Teng’s scrutiny.
"He Teng, your sister is so cute!" Feng Zheng flopped down next to He Teng as soon as he got back to the dorm, nearly touching He Teng’s arm, as if they’d known each other for years. "And your sister is so pretty. I never expected that from you," he jabbered on, "You’re quite dark, yet your sister is so fair!"
"Am I dark?" He Teng asked in a stiff tone.
"Yeah, you are!" Feng Zheng confirmed, seemingly afraid He Teng wouldn’t believe him. He held up his hand next to He Teng’s, "See? You’re way darker than me."
"I’ve been a soldier for twelve years. What about you? Barely 120 days, right?" He Teng shot Feng Zheng a disdainful glance. "If you’d been a soldier as long as me, constantly exposed to sun and wind, I bet you’d be so dark we couldn’t see you even with the lights off."
Feng Zheng was left speechless by He Teng’s retort. As he rubbed his nose, he kept glancing at He Teng and wondered why he was different from what others described. The school leaders had given Feng Zheng this task, stating that Commander He was always silent and rarely spoke. However, Feng Zheng found He Teng quite talkative and somewhat sarcastic.
