Zhilan was already grateful that the Dean of the Academic Affairs Office didn’t favor Gu En due to the influence of the Gu family, and didn’t blindly accuse her and kick her out of the university. Seeing the difficult situation the Academic Affairs office was in, Zhilan didn’t demand any explanation from the university either.
"Dean, as long as the university believes that I, Zhilan, am not the person described in those anonymous posters, that would be enough for me. I will continue to study hard and won’t let this incident affect my passion for learning." Zhilan spoke up, "If there’s nothing else, Tan Heqian and I will return to our dormitory."
The Dean nodded and walked from behind the desk, lifted her hand and patted both Zhilan and Tan Heqian on the shoulder. This was both a form of consolation and encouragement, "Work hard in your studies, there will always be a time for you to shine. Talented people like you will not always encounter such injustice."
Zhilan felt a surge of gratitude for the Dean’s words. As a Dean, she was not like other school teachers and professors who would favor the influential and privileged.
Once they had left the office building, Tan Heqian sighed, "We often hear about the Dean’s strictness and how she’s good at minding others’ business. I used to dislike her. Surprisingly, she’s actually quite nice. Sadly, without any power or background, even a dean like her really can’t help us much."
"I thought Gu En just stuck one poster on the cafeteria door, but she actually spent the whole morning putting up those disparaging posters. It seems like she really wants to drive me out of the capital. Luckily, the Dean is impartial." Zhilan said.
"I’m confused. Gu En has a great status. If she wants to drive you out of Capital University, isn’t it just a matter of a word from her family? Why doesn’t she just go home and act spoilt, and ask her parents to drive you away? Why take all this effort?" Tan Heqian was perplexed, "Looking at the Dean’s expression when she mentioned the Lan Family and the Gu Family, I guess the school administration is in good terms with them. Otherwise, a person like Gu En wouldn’t be able to enter our school. If so, for the Gu Family to expel a common student is really a piece of cake."
"I guess it’s because of Lan Li." Zhilan speculated, "We can’t judge what kind of people the elders of the Gu and Lan families are, as we haven’t met them. But I presume, if the Gu Family could raise a daughter , her parents can’t be much better. However, Gu En seems quite scared of Lan Li. If she asks her family to drive me away, Lan Li would definitely find out. Although Lan Li is quite distasteful to me, I can’t deny that he’s been good to my brother, so he would probably stop Gu En from doing so, considering my brother. But, if I get expelled because of my own wrongdoing, it would be shame for my brother. Lan Li would certainly not intercede for me."
After listening to Zhilan’s analysis, Tan Heqian teased her, "Don’t you think, after all this analysis, you should stop disliking Lan Li? It seems he’s the only one in the world who can rein in Gu En. If even he can’t control her, wouldn’t your life become a living hell?"
"Shut up with your nonsense! I just don’t like him, okay?" Zhilan retorted indignantly.
