"Okay." He Zhilan knew that it was too late for any persuasion since she had already started. Thus, before she left, she bought some milk powder and biscuits for He Dongxue, afraid that she would read late into the night and have nothing to eat when she was hungry. She also worried about her trying to save money by frugally eating meals, failing to keep up with her nutrition needs.
In M Country, Otto had sent someone to stay with He Zhilan for a long time. Therefore, Otto and his wife gave that person some time to arrange matters, and it wasn’t until over a month later that they arrived in the capital. Because of their arrival, He Zhilan asked for a month’s leave from school to prepare to go to S City with them.
The professor didn’t mind Zhilan’s leave request at all. She, educated overseas, believed that young people, regardless of gender, being determined, was a good thing. Also, since Zhilan was a serious person, the professor didn’t worry that these matters would affect her studies, but on the contrary, believed that she could learn more knowledge from practice.
Coincidentally, when He Zhilan was about to leave for S Province, He Teng received a mission which also happened to be in S Province.
Upon hearing this, Zhilan was overjoyed and decided to wait for He Teng to depart with him after inquiring about his departure time. As for Jennifer from Otto, she was instructed to fly to S Province first, with arrangements made by Xing Ye for her accommodation and reception. As for herself, Zhilan waited two days for He Teng and then took a train with him to S Province.
Although taking a train was slower and more tiresome than flying, He Zhilan was thoroughly enjoying herself, leaning against He Teng’s shoulder.
"Brother, did you know that I was going to S Province and therefore volunteered for a mission there just to accompany me? I am really touched!" He Zhilan smirked, her gaze shifting from the green scenery outside the window to He Teng’s impassive face.
His wooden expression had been maintained for quite some time since getting on the train with her. She had been insisting on being all over him and even telling others that they were a married couple. This had made his face remain wooden.
"He Zhilan, we have been divorced for half a year now, so lying to anyone, even strangers, is not a good habit," He Teng answered, emphasizing what he believed to be the truth instead of responding to Zhilan’s narcissistic remarks.
He Zhilan went silent as though she had been doused with cold water and stopped talking. She knew better than to provoke He Teng when he was annoyed because it would get her nowhere. Thus, she promised He Teng that she wouldn’t do it again.
However, the person who claimed not to continue lying was still holding onto He Teng’s hand, showing no intention of letting go, nor did she seem to intend to sit up straight instead of leaning on him.
Resigned, He Teng sighed but let it go, not insisting that He Zhilan maintain the proper posture as he was.
He thought, if she hadn’t been insistent on accompanying him, He Zhilan could have flown comfortably to S Province in no time, rather than following the mission requirements by taking a train as he was doing.
He Teng also knew that it was quite laborious to take a train for a long time. Therefore, he let He Zhilan lean in any comfortable position she liked, without insisting that she sit straight and proper.
